Kundapur: World Tourism Day - Hemanath Padubidri Wins 2nd Place in Photo Contest

Kundapur, Sep 28: The department of tourism, district administration , Zilla Nirmithi Kendra, and development of Trasi Maravanthe organization jointly organized world tourism day at the Trasi Maravanthe Beach on September 27 at 5 pm.

The programme began with a prayer song by Manzari and Suman.

Katpadi Shankar Poojary, president of Udupi ZP inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion he said that tourism helps people as well as the state in many different ways.

"Tourism is a commercial business which encompasses cultural and literary assets of the country. We should work for the development of tourist sites. In Udupi district, the sites have not been aptly developed. Tourism is an indirect source of revenue to the government" , he added.

Photographs were exhibited for the public and were also entered in different competitions.

The state-level photo contest on tourism was bagged by Damodar Nittur, second place by Daijiworld's Hemanath Padubidri and third by Rathan Shetty. The contest was held on Wednesday September 26.

Prabhu Swamy, Santhosh Korangrapady, Vasudeva Udupi won the consolation prizes.

Dr M T Reju, deputy commissioner and president of district tourism department, Shankar Shetty, president taluk panchayat Kundapur; Ananth Movaadi, member of Udupi zilla panchayat; Trasi gram, Shree Babu Shetty, member of Udupi zilla panchayat, Kambada Kone,Sharadha Devadiga, member of taluk panchayat Kundapur, Shree Rensum Pereira, president of Trasi gram panchayat, Shree Janardhan Maravanthe, president of Maravanthe gram panchayat, were present.

A cultural programme was showcased for the audience at the end of the programme.
