Runaway British Schoolgirl, Teacher found in France

London, Sep 29 (IANS): A missing British schoolgirl and her married maths teacher have been found by police in France Friday, said media reports.

After Megan Stammers, 15, and her teacher Jeremy Forrest, 30, went missing, their parents appealed for them to get in touch, reported Xinhua.

Stammers had been taken into the care of French police and Forrest was arrested on suspicion of child abduction.

The pair have both spoken to their families, who have said they are relieved they were found safe and well, said a BBC report.

Megan's stepfather Martin Stammers wrote on Twitter: "Thank you everyone for everything. Massive relief and thrilled to bits, more to follow later."

The pair had not been seen since boarding a cross-channel ferry together Sep 20. CCTV pictures were released of them holding hands and walking arm-in-arm

onboard the ferry from Dover to the northern French port city of Calais.

Under French law, a 15-year-old is not considered a minor in sexual terms, unlike in Britain, where the age of consent is 16.
