International Tag to Mangalore Airport in Two Months - Can We Believe You, Dr Moily?

International Tag to Mangalore Airport in Two Months - Can We Believe You, Dr Moily?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Sep 30: In yet another promise, union corporate affairs minister Dr M Veerappa Moily on Sunday September 30 assured that the Mangalore Airport would get the long-pending international tag in the next two months.

He was speaking to mediapersons at the Airport on his visit to the city on Sunday to meet Hajj pilgrims.

"The international tag to Mangalore Airport will be granted in the next two months," he assured.

"A meeting to finalize the grant of international status will be held in New Delhi on October 4," he added.

He also said that the air cargo terminal status will also be finalized in the next two months.

Speaking on the issue of Cauvery water-sharing, he said the state should be more vigilant and should have made proper approach to the Cauvery tribunal.

"The chief ministers of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been called for a meeting. The issue can be resolved through dialogue," he said.

On speculations about former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa joining Congress, Moily chose to play safe, saying that though Congress wants only politicians with good background as it wants to give corruption-free administration, it is not totally averse to the idea as the party wants to come to power, and hence anyone with power is welcome to join.

Yes all those who criticized Mr Moily can indeed see that his word has been kept.

BJP has been a disgrace for Udupi and DK, making us famous for ignoble deeds.

Thanks also to all those who worked for this, and to the MP from Udupi/Chikmagalur JPH.

Mr. Moily can promise many things and deliver nothing at all. He has in fact practicing this art for over decades now. It is commoners like us who stop by to listen to such reassurances, and the media which is hungry for sensational news, who make such people big. Ridiculous. Take it from me, Kannur Airport will get that status earlier than Mangalore Airport. Money talks, Mr. Moily only "assures"

Moily came in, assurance ensured and “Chauthida Pataaki Budud Poyere”. In fact he came over there to inaugurate the Mangalore International Airport as per his previous promise. But Air Port Manager Vasudeva, failed to change the Board as International Airport due to some personal problem. One of the Porter said when I visited last time Mangalore that, whether International or anti-national, always we can see same old faces from Gulf Countries, who never pay any extra money for towing their bag full of luggage which they believe not available in Mangalore. When I paid Rs 150/- to this Porter he whispered that “Vaa Karmgo Negulu Gulf ge Popini”. So according to him, International tag is not required unless we shell out minimum Rs 250/- for Porter!

Whoever says Mangarlore Airport will be International in 2 months, they are rushing to judgement. It will be most foolish thing to do. Mangalore airport has multiple problems that cannot be solved soon. First and foremost, they need longer and safer runway, every one knows. Let them resolve this problem first, else there will be lot more incidents to happen in the future. It will be suicidal to bring in international airlines into Mangalore.

The title of the news clip is perfectly alright. Daiji ( Walter ) had an interview year ago in which Moliy promised so many things nothing happened. Later he revised schedule stating the aviation Minister busy with UP elections after that he will look into this issue. We Mangaloreans are cheated by national carrir ( AI express ) looting with high rate during season to Gulf sector with poor service. If this Airport given international status many other airlines can operate. The route between Mangalore and gulf destination to be made free to private airlines. The monopoly of AI should be avoided which will benifit the tourism sector and the people of twin district working in Gulf. We have requested earlier Daiji to lead this mission on behalf of all Gulf bound passengers. The custom issue of Managlore airport raised by Daiji had good impact, I beleive still the law of 1960 not changed / ammended. None of our politicians Congress, BJP, JDS are worked for the betterment of our districts. They should compare themself with the MP MLA of our neighbouring states.

Unfortunately they will lose 2013 elections in Karnataka and will never come to power in the state for the next 50 years at least. You should kneel down and kiss the feet of both the appa and maga ( Devegowda and Kumaraswami) for getting an opportunity to rule during the last 4 years. If not for these two crooks, BJP would never have come to power in our state.

They thrive on this particular route for survival, this is their life line to cover up their loses, they are no fools to give this away to any other Airline, who will wipe them off the routes. The Govt will def back AI. Its very obvious.

In two months, December will come. Yes, Moily promised international status by December. Forget it was Dec 2011 by the way.
This man should be banished from Karnataka.
Hope Udupi MP Sri Jayaprakash will do something.
