Udupi: World Heart Day Observed at Santhekatte

Udupi, Oct 1:
On account of the World Herat Day, a walkathon was organized from Udupi to Santhekatte here on Sunday, September 30.
 
The walkathon was organized by the Rotary Club, Kallianpur in association with JCI Kallianpur, Lions Club Kallianpur, Hi-Tech Medicare Hospital, Dhanwanthari College of Nursing, Milagres College, Kallianpur and LVT Higher Primary School, Santhekatte.


Thousands of people regardless of age participated.
 
Addressing the gathering, Dr R N Bhat explained the symptoms of heart attacks, its precautions, safety measures, first aid on spot and immediate initiative to take persons who get an attack to the hospital.
 
Pramod Madhwaraj, in his address, said that prevention is better than cure and also spoke about the ways in which one can avoid major expenses after an attack.

Hilda Rodrigues, lecturer of Milagres College, advised people to walk more and talk more as it is essential to living a healthy life.
 
Muralidhar Suverna, JCI president, also spoke on the occasion and also delivered the concluding note of the event.
