Kundapur: Mahatma Gandhiji’s 144th Birth Anniversary Celebrated

Kundapur, Oct 3: Under the aegis of Byndoor Nagarika Vedike, Mahatma Gandhi's 144th birth anniversary was celbrated here in the government hospital.

On this occasion, Ram Sherugar, taluk panchayat member offered a floral tribute to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji. He said that Gandhiji is one of the most successful leaders known by modern India. He said that all should follow the principles of truth and non-violence of the great freedom fighter.

Sheshappaya Hebbar, in his presidential speech said, “We are fortunate to have a great spirit like Gandhiji. The future generations should follow his principles. Gandhiji upheld India’s culture and excellence”. On this occasion we should also remember Lal Bahadur Shastri, he said.

Dr Lata Nayak, hospital’s medical officer said that all should follow Gandhiji’s principles of truth, equity and non-violence.

Byndoor Nagarika Vedike president Ravindra Shyanubhag welcomed the gathering.

Uday Shetty, Dr Subramanya Bhat, Ravindra Byndoor, Nagaraj Shet, Shankara Bankeshwara, Chandrashekar Navada, journalist Narasimha B Nayak and hospital staff were present during the occasion.

Bhaskar Shetty Biyar proposed the vote of thanks. Jagadish Patwal compered the programme.

Taluk panchayat members distributed fruits to the patients. Free medical checkup was organized by Dr Latha to the pre-matric students.
