Udupi: Voting Centres Increased in District: Dr M T Reju

Udupi, Oct 3: “The voting centers in the district have been increased on voters demand. The electoral enrollment for all above the age limit of 18 will begin and campaigning in this regard will be held”, said DC Dr M T Reju.

Addition and removal of voters in the list is allowed for which officers have been appointed even in the village level, he informed. On Tuesday, District Administration and the Canara Bus owners Association jointly campaigned for name enrollment and distributed bus concession cards. Revision of voters’ id is on.

District has a total population of 11.77 lac, among which 8.11 lac members are eligible to vote. There are 68% voters in the five constituencies of the district. 837 voting centers exist and an addition of 129 centers will be made, he said.

The election enrollment campaign was uniquely inaugurated by Dr M T Reju by tying banners to the buses and by distributing stickers.

Currently discount coupons are being given for 175 buses and it should be extended to the remaining 50 buses, said the district transport officer, H L Ramesh.

President of Canara bus owners association, Rajavarma Ballal welcomed. Udupi APMC president, Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Poornima S Nayak.

Additional DC Kumar, Gokul Das Nayak, municipal commissioner, Sadanand Chatra, vice-president of Canara Bus Owners Association were present.
