Mangalore: Air India Express to Fly Twice Daily to Dubai

Kochi/Mangalore, Oct 7 (PTI): Mangalore will see budget airline Air India Express flying twice daily to Dubai, three times a week to Muscat and Abu Dhabi and twice weekly to Doha and Bahrain.

Air India Express (AIE) on October 6 said it would operate 27 additional flights from Kerala and Mangalore to various Gulf destinations from October 28.

Announcing its winter schedule, the airline said it has increased services from Kerala and Mangalore airports to Middle East destinations from 92 a week to 119 a week.

As per schedule, Kochi will connect cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain, Doha and Sharjah daily, Muscat thrice a week.

Passengers from here will be offered convenient connections to Dammam via Kozhikode daily, and to Kuwait three times a week, with both boarding cards issued in Kochi and the baggage tagged to the ultimate destination, AIE said.

Kozhikode would connect Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Doha, Dammam and Muscat daily; Salalah twice a week, Kuwait thrice a week and one weekly service to the city of Al-Ain, AIE said in a press release here.

Thiruvananthapuram would connect Abu Dhabi and Dubai daily, thrice weekly to Muscat, four times a week to Sharjah and twice a week to the city of Salalah in Oman.

On the domestic sector, AIE will operate daily flights to Mumbai from Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, besides thrice weekly from Kozhikode to Mumbai and back.

‘This is the first time ever since its inception in 2005 that Air India Express is deploying so many services from the cities of Kerala and Mangalore to the Gulf and back’, an airlines spokesperson said.

This increase in capacity would help stabilise fares to a very large extent, benefiting the travelling public of this region, he said.

An international airport at Mangalore is a long felt need and I am glad that at long last a decision has been taken to officially this airport as an international airport. We have come a long way ever since the advent of flying. I recall flying in a Dakota to Mangalore from Mumbai which used to take four hours - flying at an altitude of 5000 ft. with a beautiful view of the beach of Arabian Sea below.

There was the semblance of just one little building in Bajpe which was called the terminal building. Just a few days ago on my return from U.S.A. I boarded the connecting Air India Express flight from Mumbai and it was a pleasure to land in Mangalore within about an hour.

By a co-incidence, the up-grading of the airport comes as a gift by Mr. Vasudeva Rao who worked relentlessly for The Mangalore Airport and going International was his brain child.

These AI Express aircrafts are over used. There seems to be no time for maintenance. The metal foundation of the seats can be felt.It is high time that recushioning of the seats are done at the earliest. These aircrafts have become junks .The food served is pathetic too for the price of the ticket.Being a regular flyer I know exactly what they will serve !

This is a tactics from AIE to block the space in Mangalore Airport so that other Airlines will not get slot for landing because of smaller runway and smaller area to handle the International passengers

Kuwait to mangalore new schedule has come. Before it was on friday 1.00AM so people could apply for leave from saturday or sunday and and travel on thursday nite without losing the work day and salary. But now this flight is on thursday morning 00.15 AM. so people who have to take leave from thursday and so chances are there you lose 2 to 3 days of either leave days or salary. so after travelling all these years from Air India for its convenience this time i have to make alternate arrangement. I really fail to understand the logic behind this thought process involved in schedule changes.

Dear Daiji, It's really an awesome news. Thanks to God and thanks to everyone who made this dream possible.

But I am surprised to see not a single person from Riyadh has commented about the need of the hour. Thousands of Expatriates living in this country and looks like nobody is bothered to request. Everyone is bothered about Dubai sector.Surprise!!! Surprise!!!!

Dear Aviation Minister, on behalf of Mangaloreans and Keralites, herewith I request you, please start introducing direct flights to Riyadh-Mangalore immediately. This is not an order but a kind request. I hope my kind request will be considered favorably. Many thanks in advance Ministerji. God bless Riyadh Mangaloreans.

Days are very near to Air India Express to say buy one get one ticket free once other compititors start service.

Nobody will travel with AIE to eat their IDLY-CHUTNEY after paying heapty amount almost equivalent to business class compare to other standard airlines.

Request the concerned authorities to look into the matter and help the passengers flying to M'lore airport by introducing daily flights to Mangalore.

Mangalore will see "budget airline Air India Express"... what do you mean by "budget airline"? Is AIE really a "BUDGET (LOW COST) AIRLINE"? When we look at it's fare, it doesn't look like budget airline.
