Beltangady: Mother, Daughter Commit Suicide

Beltangady, Oct 7: A mother and daughter committed suicide by hanging themselves on Friday October 5 night.

The deceased have been identified as Anand Gowda’s wife Sundari (42), daughter Sandya (15), residents of Didupe.

It is learnt that Sundari was suffering from mental illness from past two years. She was undergoing treatment in Putter, but did not heal. It is suspected that this might be the reason for her to take the extreme step.

Sandya was studying in class 9 in Ujire SDM school. It is learnt that her husband on Friday night went to the fields to guard the crops.

The incident came to light when he returned next morning. Her son is studying in Sullia KVJ. The family is said to be poor.

As per the complaint given by Anand Gowda’s brother Vasant Gowda, a case has been registered in Beltangady police station.

Zilla panchayat president Koragappa Nayak, vice president Dhanalaxmi Janardhan, taluk BJP president Sharada R Rai, Malavantige panchayat president Dinesh Gowda met the family members and offered condolences.
