Worm in Chicken - KFC Outlet Closed Down in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 9, 2012, (PTI) :  The outlet of Kentucky Fried Chicken here has been closed down by the state Food Safety Authorities after a worm was found in a chicken dish bought by a customer from the multi-national restaurant chain, FSA sources said today.

Action against KFC's eatery in the heart of the city followed a complaint lodged by the customer who found a dead worm in a dish of 'fiery chicken' he bought from the outlet yesterday, they said.

Acting on the complaint, FSA officials searched the outlet and claimed to have come across stale items and immediately slapped a temporary closure notice, sources said.

Though the restaurant staff sought to prevent the officials from conducting searches, they had their way. They took samples of various dishes served in the hotel for detailed examination and analysis.

The complaint was made by Shaiju, an NRI, who had come to the busy eatery along with his wife, son and two relatives. Shaiju was overcome by nausea and vomited as soon as he saw the dead worm in the chicken served to him.

When he brought the matter to the staff's notice, they tried to dissuade him from making an outcry or complaint to the health authorities. However, he later contacted the FSA office and urged them to take action.

FSA sources said the seized samples would be subjected to chemical analysis and further action would be taken based on the result.

The eatery management has also been asked to give in writing their response to the notice, sources said.

A simple call – From customer,
Quick action – From KERALA media, Police and Food Inspectors,
    Result – KFC Outlet Closed.

If the same happens in our state, this incident will never get a place in any of news page and our Food Inspector would have made money out of this...!!!

The FDA in Retail will also create the same situation in India.
All the stale, out-of date, rotten, leftovers of USA and Europe will be dumped in India through multi-brand retail shops, by stating that it is cheaper than your neighbourhood grocery shop, and seeing the foreign tag we will blindly buy all that along with worms, gugguru, pury, Kuttey.

Naturally speaking a small worm in a chicken meat meal (from wherever it came there) it should not make shocking phenomena!! I do not know from which source KFC outsources its chicken, but have seen country chicken "devouring" cockroaches, worms, and wall lizards!! The funniest thing is country chicken meat and eggs are doubly priced than that of poultry chicken!!! Why this dichotomy???? Sub Golmaal hai!!!!

Dinesh Poojary Bangaluru..We are debating about KFC Chicken product! Every raw food products aught to have worms, insects and other unwanted foreign objects! What you named Vegetables are not limited carrying worms almost all.All vegetables, preferably LETTUCE/CAULIFLOWER/CABBAGE advised to clean with bleach(Clorox, few s) to kill the germs and bacteria.

Finding worms in food is not only limited to KFC.

I have experienced this couple of times:

    * My friend had found a worm in lunch served by Kamat Restaurant of Infosys Bangalore.

    * In another small hotel of Bangalore in Anna Sambar.

The worms will be there in food if vegetables like Brinjal, cauliflower are not cleaned properly.

KFC AND ALL FAST FOODS ARE NOT GOOD FOR HEALTH. ALL DEEP FRIED FOODS ARE BAD FOR HEALTH. THEY RAISE CHOLESTEROL.

HOME MADE BAKED CHICKEN WOULD BE MUCH BETTER FOR HEALTH.

I WILL TELL YOU SOME FACTS ABOUT KFC:

KFC DOES NOT USE REAL CHICKEN. THEY ACTUALLY USE GENETICALLY MANIPULATED ORGANISM.

THESE SO CALLED "CHICKENS" ARE KEPT ALIVE BY TUBES ED INTO THEIR BODIES TO PUMP BLOOD AND NUTRIENTS THROUGHOUT THEIR STRUCTURE.

THEY HAVE NO BEAKS, NO FEATHERS, AND NO FEET. THEIR BONE STRUCTURE IS DRAMATICALLY SHRUNK TO GET MORE MEAT OUT OF THEM. BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH FOR THEIR PRODUCTION COST.

The Health Department should pass an order to make all the fast food and the regular food eateries to install compulsory multiple CCTV inside the kitchens that covers all the regions and areas of the kitchen.
There are many shocking news taking place inside kitchen that we customers sitting on the glittering furniture outside are not aware.
During rush hours few eateries repeats the used plates and glasses without even bothering to throw the drinks leftovers of the previous customer.
Few slow moving eateries carry forward the leftover food till they get sold. Hygiene of the kitchen and serving staff are the biggest challenge.
The Health Department should take scientific approach and appoint more young and dedicated employees to check all the hotel kitchens at regular basis without any compromise on the kitchen and the staff hygiene.

    But is it worth????

Same questions to all the hotels.
In A2B hotels in Bangalore tea costs 20Rs....
    Is it worth???

The government should bring policy to maintain uniform low price for the daily eating food items such as idli, Vada , tea etc...

Its a very hard time to find good hotels in Bangalore which offers less price and good service.
