Mangalore, Oct 9: Harish K of BJP has been elected as the president of taluk panchayat and Rajeevi Kempamannu of BJP has been elected the vice-president. The election for the second term was held in the taluk panchayat auditorium on Tuesday, October 9.

The election was supposed to be held at 3 pm, but due to the non-arrival of BJP members, the election officer assistant commissioner Dr Venkatesh contemplated postponing it to some other day if they did not arrive within thirty minutes. The Congress on the other hand demanded election without the BJP.

This led to a quarrel between the Congress and the election officer. MLA U T Khader intervened, and the situation was brought under control. As per the rules, the election officer allowed half an hour of extra time for the BJP members to arrive.

The BJP members finally arrived minutes before the half an hour was out, and the election was held.

The president's post was reserved for the backward class-A community and the vice-president's post for woman in the general category. There were three nominees for the post of president - Prakash Gaddikalpane and Harish K from BJP and Prakash Devaramane from Congress; and two nominees for the vice-president's post - Shashi Prabha from Congress and Rajeevi from BJP.

There were two candidates from the BJP, but just about five minutes prior to the election, Prakash Gaddikalpane withdrew his nomination. Harish K and Rajeevi were elected president and vice-president.

Babu Devadiga and Rohidas too assisted as the election officers.

BJP party leaders and workers celebrated the victory soon after the election. Crackers were burst and Nasik band was also arranged. The winning candidates were taken in an open jeep procession to BJP office in Karangalpady.

Congress white wash has begun in Mangalore and Karnataka.

As I suggested earlier, congis should get into Yakshagana, drama, Tulu and Kannada movies as they are good in comedy and acting.

We have very good comedians like CM Ibrahim, Janardhana Poojary, Siddu, Ugrappa etc. Let them save our culture and language.
