Udupi, Oct 10: As suspected, the woman and girl found dead in Malpe St Mary's beach are identified to be mother and daughter. The authorities informed that the deceased are 38-year-old Varamahalaxmi and her daughter 11-year-old Gagana from Channapatna of Ramanagara district Bangalore.

A complained was filed in Bangalore Chennapatna police station regarding the disappearance of duo. It is learnt that they reached St Mary’s island on Monday October 8 morning.

The police sources said that the duo came to Malpe with an intention of committing suicide. Though, they belonged to respected and well off family, the mother was extremely distressed after her son committed suicide two months ago. Varalaxmi's husband was depressed and bed-ridden after their son's death.

Upon investigation, it is found that Varalaxmi called her family members before jumping into the sea.

Life is so precious, suicide is not an answer for anything. Most of the issues can be resolved in this life.
When moral values are not solid this is the outcome...

People are so silly. Why come all the way to Malpe to end their lives ?

It is not easy to end one's life.Is this a drowning accident or murder ?

The Cops may be trying to wash their hands quickly instead of investigating the matter.

It is not safe to swim in the Arabian Sea till about the 2nd week of Nov. The people who drown do not know of the under currents in the sea. Many outsiders think it is like a swimming pool.
