Udupi, Oct 10: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Congress is jointly going to organize an assembly of the congress members on October 18 at the Nehru Maidan, Mangalore.

Janardhana Poojary, Congress leader  on October 9 called for a press meet at the Congress Bhavan and said that the  UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will be present on the occasion.

As many as 15, 000 Congress workers are expected to take part in the convention.

Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes will be in charge of the conference.

The conference is organized for the all Congress workers from booth level to the district level. The reason for the convention is to assemble and train all the congress workers to utilize the political imbalance of BJP government and make them ready for the upcoming election.

He added that the conference will work on the failures of the state government ruling party and also the successful measures of Central government under UPA government.

He said that, Sonia will inaugurate the centenary celebrations at the Sri Gokarnateshwara temple, Kudroli and also the Dasara celebrations following the valedictory programme, which was conducted few years ago by her husband Rajiv Gandhi.
