Bantwal, Oct 10: Lalitha Shivappa Naik of BJP was elected president of Bantwal taluk panchayat and after some confusion, Anand A Shamboor of the same party was elected the vice-president, during the elections held here on Wednesday October 10.

Dr Venkatesh, Mangalore Assistant commissioner was the election officer.  Vishwanath Poojary and Anand Nayak assisted him.

Lalitha was the only elegible candidate for the post of the president as per the reservation norm and she was elected unanimously.

The total strength of the panchayat is 33 members, out of which BJP has 17 members and Congress 16. As one member of the BJP was absent, both the BJP and Congress candidates for the vice-president's post got equal number of votes.

The election officer then decided to choose the vice-president by picking chits. A reporter picked the chit and Anand became the lucky winner. Chaos prevailed for a while with protests erupting over the manner of choosing the vice-president.

Tight police protection was deployed under the charge of Bantwal circle inspector Anil S Kulkarni.

It is said that Jayanthi Poojary, the BJP member who was absent, had been coaxed to do so by the Congress leaders. Nevertheless, Congress had to still bite the dust as fate favoured BJP.

Lalitha is a member of Kepu taluk panchayat and Anand is from Narikombu taluk panchayat.

Leaders like Padmanabha Kottari, Devdas Shetty, Dinesh Bhandary, Ronald D’Souza, Chennappa Kotian, Santosh Kumar Rai, Ramdas, Nemiraj Rai, Purushottam Salian Shamboor, G Anand and others were present.

See today's fresh news in Daiji World here only on Home Page. Yaddy has told categorically that he will go out of BJP and form his own Party in December.
So, the BJP's days are numbered. BJP without Yaddy cannot even win 60 seats in Karnataka. Sangha Parivar has no base in North Karnataka except in Hubli-Dharwad city and Belgaum city ( not rural area).

Just see the Education level of these persons who have been chosen to Head the Udupi & Bantwal TP. Can a 7th Pass lady or a PUC fail man can understand the intricacies of the Economics and fiscal policies & financial management of TP ?. Just by being good in Politics does not that they are also good in understanding the local problems and finding solution for it. Can the 7th pass lady take independent decisions which is good for the people OR will she just sign on "dotted lines" as per the instructions from Kalladka ?

For example - Bihar, UP & Jarkhand people are excellent in 'Playing' Politics, but they are failure in Economics & Financial Management, that is why those States are Economically backward. But our PM Dr Manmohan Singh is excellent in Economics but failure in Politics.

Dinesh Poojari Kundapura..Use your common sense here...Both TP had enough BJP members to get their President & VP elected..In Udupi,SHRINIVAS Shetty's faction won the President Chair, in fact,National Party(BJP)surrendered to one man Party!!!!!Don't fool the public or read the news item properly..By the by in spite of Majority in Mangalore Corporation your party lost the mayoral election!!! That means BJP could be washed out?No....
