Mangalore: Four More Arrested for Attack on Home Stay

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Oct 11: Special police teams on Wednesday October 10 arrested four more accused in connection with the attack on home stay at Padil on July 28.

The arrested are identified as Kiran BS (35) hails from Puttur, currently residing in Padil, Shreyas (19) from Alape, Ganesh (22) from Veeranagar and Deekshith (25) from Jelligudde.

The four were absconding ever since the incident. In this regard the court had issued arrest warrant against them.

With this, the total number of arrests in the case has now reached 28.

The third JMFC court on Octobe 3 issued arrest warrant against 16 people. The warrant also includes two journalists - Naveen Soorinje (reporter) and Sharan, videographer of a local channel.

Sources said that the police have identified 44 people involved in the home stay attack including the mastermind Subhash Padil.

On July 28, a group of around 30 persons allegedly belonging to Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) had attacked girls and boys at Morning Mist Home stay where they were celebrating a birthday. The incident evoked protests from all quarters. Within one week of the attack, the police arrested 22, and by the end of August two more were arrested. Bail applications in the case were rejected by the court.

As GZ Tumkunte rightly says, Homestay incident also would have been hushed up by Police if Naveen Soorinje's video was not available as hard Proof.

This can be substantiated from the fact that just within last 15 days four such incidents took place again - two in Bantwal, one in Yeyyadi and one in Udupi-onthibettu. But in all these four cases the goons were let off and the victims were given sermons by the police about the Indian Sabhyathe & Sanskriti. There is no punishment for 'intruding in the Privacy of the People', and also dragging respectable people to the Police station, because there was no hard proof just like Homestay and hence police could easily push these four cases under carpet.

Surinje had done good job, otherwise how people know these types of rubbish goondagiri? Some doubts arise how media reach there before HJV? Anyway where are the sixteen others? Really the Hon.Highcourt done the good job, otherwise maximum four or five people were arrested and leave on easy bail. Our govt.and our police department's actions and job every reader verywell known.Protests against homestay raid are pressurised the police department. Otherwise nothing would be happen.

Arresting Navin Soorinje? This is witchhunting the whistle blower. Criminal. If it were not for his providing the video footage, those young boys and girls could have been raped. Arresting him is insanity as if to tell anyone who would dare to collect and give evidence later: this is what will happen to you. So beware!

It is understood that the TV media were present at the site even before the goons arrived. So they were all ' hand in glove 'and a 'party to the crime'.

It seems Police and Politicians have immense grudge against NAVEEN Soorinje for providing irrefutable Proof of Goondaism by HJV. If Navaeen and his Photographer had not filmed this ghastly act then the Police would have given clean chit to the HJV goons and Punished those victims only, as happened many times since last 4 years. When Matha College students were going on Picnic same goons had attacked the vehicle and beaten students, and then police hushed up this Case 3 yrs ago. Homestay attackers could not be saved only and only because of video proof of Navein Soorinje. Hence police have so much grudge against Naveen.
Just Last week one professional group of 'Short Film Producers and Actors-Actresses' near Bantwal was attacked again by the Moral Police thinking that it is a group of picnickers, and the Police hushed up the case.
Those Film producers have now vowed that they will never come to Mangalore-Udupi district for any sort of outdoor shooting, and Mangaloreans will never be given any chance in any Kannada Movie. This fact shows that the Moral Police have not learn lessons from Homestay Case because they know that Politicians & Police will support and protect them.

I am pleased to read about more arrests. Where are the masters? HJV washed hands saying they do not recognize, I mean use and throw. For easy money and fame in the name of (molesting) culture they are behind bars today. May be they touched daughters of powerful people! These goons were used to beating girls and weak section. Always victims did not fight for fear of public attention. Good going culture masters! We are happy for you. Mangalore is lot more peaceful without aggression of moral police! Hope you do not get bail for few years towards a peaceful Mangalore.

This case is exposed bcz of Navin Soorinje, how can court issuer arrest warrant against him and this videografer? Both of them should be witness to the incident and not culprits. Honorable court must advise the same to the police officials.

The reason behind taking this case very seriously is the victims in this case were POWERFUL and not any 'Mango man'. those culprits don't deserve capital punishment. rather a life sentence to cherish and swallow and relive a thousand times the idiotic acts that they have done. I hope at last we realise our FORGIVENESS doesn't work here with IRREPARABLE people.

Mr NAVEEN SOORINJE was fixed in this case and I think there is enough martial with Soorinje to convince the court of his innocence and purposeful fixation in this sensitive issue. Then CP of Mangalore threatened Soorinje to fix him because of his daring to AIR in the TV Media the home stay attack and subsequent molestation by HJV goons. However, WJA Mangalore had representation in this regard and then CP promised the delegation to name of Press Persons from the FIR.
It is judiciary which took interest in this case and asked the Govt the status que report in HARSH WORDS!Apart from that Public and NGOs are continuously putting pressure to nab the goons which made POLICE DEPARTMENT to act..
