Mangalore, Oct 13: The four school girls who went missing on the evening of Friday October 12 have been traced near Shivbagh.

Lavanyna, Prathiksha, Nishmitha and Dhanya, students of Capitanio high school had gone missing after school hours. A search operation was launched, but they remained untraced till early morning of Saturday October 13.

On October 13 early morning, the girls were traced to a house in Shivbagh, where they had taken shelter for the night.

It is said that a lady who stays alone in a house near ESI hospital, out of compassion for the girls, agreed to give them shelter for the night provided they leave in the morning. Though police had searched Shivbagh area, the girls could not be located. On Saturday morning the girls were traced and rounded up from the house.

The four girls were taken to the police station and then sent back to their respective houses.

The girls said that they had got less marks in exams and feared being reprimanded at home, and hence decided to run away.

Nmathias - First of all please spare some time and check for yourself before commenting on the capability of the teachers as the school conducts special classes for those weak in studies. To top it parents ask the teachers to keep the child in school till 7 as if the teachers dont have any other responsibilities other than dedicating their lives to the students and the school. Dont forget teachers have their family and kids to take care of. I dont think you would want your kids or grandchildren to be neglected at home when their mother is full time involved in her job. It is the parents responsibility also specially if the child is not that good in studies.

Secondly it is a reputed school but it is a kannada medium school and most of the parents cannot even afford to pay the fees forget about sending them for tuitions and the teachers are aware of this. There may not be any student going to tuitions.

Finally the performance of the students is very important for the teachers so there is no question of neglecting the students or not taking interest in teaching.

From now on wards don't give the marks card or reveal the marks to to the students. Technology has grown take a email id of the parents and send the marks cards through the email attachment or ask parents to come to school once in month to the school for the open house and submit the report. And if possible change the education system let children choose the subject they want don't forcefully implement subject children don't want to study. Give them a overall knowledge about the education system and give them a chance to pick up the subject they want to mater them.

You said it right. Could not have said it in a better way. This kind of things like children running away from home used to happen even before. Its only bcos of the progress in communication, these incidents are instantly published.
I pity the mindset of certain people here who have linked this incident to home stay, western culture etc. Like Gandhi said “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

These days children are treated as criminals if they fail in their exams or even get less marks. They make them feel this is the end. The result, running away from homes for fear of being reprimanded. Let parents not treat children as enemies for bringing less marks or for failing in exams. Instead advise them to study well and improve in studies. Let parental love prevail, which I observe is deterioriating due to modern day competitions and hectic routines.

All those Indian Culture-Vultures who at the slightest pretext start eulogizing Indian Culture should go beyond their "CHANDAMAMA Knowledge" and read the research books on Indian Culture, which slowly shaped over 4000 years due to the influence of foreign cultures such as Babylon, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persia & China, and also Israel (when some 'Lost Tribes' as mentioned in Holy Bible reached Indian shores. DNA research is required in this connection. Chithpavan community in Coastal Maharashtra, the majority of whom have White or Blue eyes, are said to be from Israel).

In our Puranas we find many girls eloping with boys at tender age. Subhadra at the age of 15 eloped with Abhimanya who was just 16 yrs of age. Rukmini eloped with another person when she was forced to marry Shishupala. In olden days royal family women as well as ordinary citizens were not wearing any cloth above the waist as depicted in all our ancient sculptures & wall-paintings. Pl visit Khajooraho & Konarak, Ajantha & Ellora for first hand knowledge, and then comment about Western Dress and culture. Without any inhibition everyone should examine just for 5 minutes the dresses in the photos of all our Gods very closely.

In olden days our Indian culture was more liberalized & open-minded than the Western culture of today. So before boasting every one should study about ancient Indian culture with open mind. Just reading Chandamama is not sufficient.

This case is having lot many suspisious corners, involvment of some local goonda raj, and thier supporting outfits, and this looks to be a ''DEFAMTION'' plot since these girls are studying in a reputed school, so some groups, they want to terrorise the citizens and they need to show thier presence, they will go one extra mile to do anything.

Only the girls knows who is their mentor and curator. So the police shd keep any eye on these girls and thier activities.

Now our Mangalore is become the HEADLINES OF THE WORLD.

So this is the gift from our GOVT TO THE CITIZENS so coming days will be more troublesome bcoz GOVT itself not sure of their representatives.

Make Education- not learn by heart & regurgitate & who-ever does it with memory(successfully) gets the highest marks is our present system. Getting Knowledge & having it for life time should be the system.

Make Education Fun & Exciting than boring teaching methods with more students in a class, teachers unable to give quality time to each & every student with students having different I Q s & Tastes, our present system needs Radical Reforms, if we need to succeed in future.

Instead of Erecting Factories that turn out Uniform Robots(100% Results) our Schools & Colleges needs to encourage 'CREATIVITY' of each student, identify them early & guide them to achieve that goal.

Parents- never compare & urge your kids to achieve what u think is right for them. Scoring High Marks in Class is not an achievement, get the knowledge & marks will reflect by itself.

All Successful persons are not Highly Educated(university) in Life, rather they employ highly educated to work for them.

See the Movie-"3 Idiots" again & again & don't be "Just Another Brick In The Wall"-(Pink Floyd song).
If possible get a copy of Book-"Rich Dad Poor Dad" written by Robert Kiyosaki, then only we will realize what mistakes we are making in our present education system!

8th Std students means they must be around 13 yrs of age.
So, they know very well that when they grow up beyond 16 years and even if they go out with their Own Brother also, the Moral Police will beat them up, molest and loot their Chain, Mobile & Jacket and the real Police and Politicians will support those goons only. So they must have thought that it is safe to go to some other district and continue their Education and live peacefully instead of getting beaten & molested by Moral Police and have the trauma & social stigma lifelong.

The above was just written in 'lighter vein'. In fact the Police & the Relatives should keep eye on Railway station & Bus Stands, so that those girls do not go out of the City and fall in the hands of cruel traffickers. There are blood hounds all around. At this age many girls take childish steps without knowing the consequences and pay a very heavy price.

As usual mindless comments from our esteemed readers, leaving the core issue aside. Really fed up of all this. Only pray that better sense prevail on us instead of blaming cong/BJP/BD/HJV etc for the all the silly things including tap leakage etc at home too. Its getting too bored. Do you agree Bhandarkar M?. We need objective analysis, not Chirstians/muslims supporting Cong[i] & Hindus BJP. Let us grow up & dwell on the current issue. Would definitely not mind 100s of dislikes. Go Bless u all

Dakshina Kannada Police are busy in protecting sangha parivar & BJP leaders. They do not have time for common people.Students & minorities are not safe in Dakshina Kannada.

@HOFZ, MANGALORE, this is sign of our society who pressurise children to much, and sign of mindless people like you, who blame politics for each and every thing.

They might have gone to some relatives house. This is to frighten the school teachers or parents. Now a days girls do not want to work or study. They need easy life. This is a well known prestigious school. Teachers don't be worried.

is it a coincidence that tomorrow is the open house for most schools? i believe the answers lies in the marks scored by these girls.they must have found a way to escape the castigation they would have to face from their parents, if in case it was due to their marks.i wouldn't support the fact that this must be a crime case.today's educational incompetence has caused the parents of this age to put children under mental weight.

Mr. Paddu what moily says is correct. We cant support the homestay incident that uncultured guys touch and beat girls so that they will teach them the indian culture. Nobody support the homestay incident. And here is different situation and nobody knows what happend. The result is not from homestay but because of the result of our bad administration and bad governance. They are studying in one of the most wellknown highschool and nobody raise the cultural question regarding this school.

Best remark by Mr.Paddu,Mangalore.When people oppose the bad elements engaged in gay party and other illegal things, our beloved enlightened forward thinkers of Kudla immediately draw up a plan of their own with the help of dubious vedikes to malaign the real protectors under the guise of RSS,HJV,SRS etc., etc.,Now we have to see all these stupidity. Now let the so called vedikes come out on the streets as did earlier in Mangalore Mist Home stay case and show their real love for the soceity.
