Doha, Oct 13: Seetharam Shetty was elected as the president of Tulu Koota during the 8th annual general body meeting held recently.

The meeting was chaired by the outgoing president Ramchandra Shetty. Divakar Poojary was the returning officer and he announced the newly formed managing committee.

Ramchandra Shetty welcomed the gathering and presented a brief report of Tulu Koota activities during his tenure. The outgoing general secretary Sandesh Anand read the minutes of previous AGM and gave a brief annual report and outgoing treasurer Seetharam Shetty presented the audited financial report of their tenure. The financial report was audited by Narayanan Rao, TKQ auditor which was later approved by the committee members.

The first session came to an end after Ramchandra Shetty dissolved the existing committee and handed over the stage to the returning officer Divakar Pujary. The returning officer announced the approved nominations of 9 committee members and the only nomination for the post of president.

The new management committee for the year 2012 - 2014 was officially announced which reads as follows:

Sudhir Kotian – General secretary
Prakash Rao – Joint secretary
Padmashree Shetty – Cultural secretary
Sudhir Kumar – Sports secretary
Vivian D’souza – Treasurer

Yashpal Puthran – Membership coordinator
Supriya Bhat – Ladies and children coordinator

The newly elected president Seetharam Shetty introduced all the newly elected committee members to the gathered audience and appealed to all the members for their continued support and co-operation. Former president Ravi Shetty lauded the services of the outgoing committee members and in particular thanked Ramchandra Shetty for his dedication and hard work during his tenure. He assured the members that the new team will give priority towards charity activities along with other socio-cultural activities.

The event came to an end with Seetharam Shetty, the outgoing treasurer proposing the vote of thanks. Cultural secretary Archana Shetty compered the entire event.
