Mangalore : Colaco Hails Philosophy Followed by Kudroli Temple

Daijiworld Media Network

Mangalore, Oct 13: Ronald Colaco NRI businessman and philanthropist who recently visited the  Kudroli  Gokarnatheshwara  temple was greatly captivated by the ‘one caste, one religion and one god’ philosophy followed by the temple.  Colaco who took time off his busy schedule to visit the temple which is on the threshold of celebrating its centenary now, said the ideology followed by Gokarnanatha Kshetra is in tune with the sarvadharma samabhava policy, which is the need of the hour. “It is really wonderful to see this philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru so clearly enshrined in the temple”, Colaco stated

During his visit Colaco who contributed Rs. 5 lakhs to the temple was felicitated by H S Sairam, President of Gokarnanatha Kshetra. It may be recalled that a few years back Colaco had shown a similar gesture by contributing cooking vessels to the temple.

Speaking on the occasion Colaco pointed out that at a time when communalism is raising its ugly head these days it is really gratifying to note that Gokarnanatheshwara Temple has been religiously following the ideology of Sree Narayana Guru. As compared to other places this is a unique temple, a place where the sentiments of the people are taken care of and respected. It is really encouraging to see this philosophy propagated by the guru is put into practice sincerely, he stated.

Colaco who has already contributed about Rs. 66 lakhs to nearly 29 different temples so far, said that his contribution was a token gesture to the temple during its centenary year.

Felix D Souza Thakode, Arun Mendes, D D Kattenar, Member of the development committee, Padmaraj Hegde, treasurer, Harikrishna Bantwal, Austin Peris and Jagadish Adhikari were present  during the occasion.

I have spent nearly 28 yrs in Mangalore. I guess Christians and Hindus bond very well in the society. Never have I seen any problems earlier unless it was politically motivated.

And I guess Mr. Colaco is doing a great job otherwise, guess Muslim and Hindu community bigwigs should also come forward in a similar fashion

RONALD COLACO, Indeed, has a very Cosmopolitan & genuinely SECULAR outlook. Its just a accident of birth, that we carry a TAG of some religion or other. BUT,deep within,ALL of us know ,whats RIGHT & whats NOT. The message of NARAYAN GURU, is easily understood & true ,like any other message. BUT ,his times were more deprived.Mr.Colaco ,sharing his wealth, without any personal motive is SO VERY ENDEARING.!!Having met him,Mr Colaco, comes across as such a down to earth, practical person, that it becomes an uplifting experience. He has true concern & ''kaalaji'' for the needy people. Mr Colaco's range of philanthropy ,cuts across all sections, like ''AADU MUTTADHA GIDA ELLA'' his Acts, touch ,the Alcoholic SICK,[who are generally not considered Sick] LINK TRADA. TO the Spiritual [temples, churches, etc] to the EDUCATIONAL....& also a push towards POLITICAL AWAKENING of the Community. The Uninitiated, WONDER,WHY

    Hats off Sir,
no words are enough for your philanthropic works towards all people whom God Created for a purpose who adore & worship him in different ways.
Narayana Guru was a Great Leader & a Great Visionary- who also procalimed, One God, One Religion, All are Equal before Him.
India has a great tradition of giving their life to defend someone who came asking for shelter from ages. This was evident whenever or wherever communal riots broke out.
Hindus sheltering muslims where they are in majority & muslims doing vice versa. Godhra was a witness to these unique bond as well.
We in Mangalore never had any lack of such bond till recently, but we are one & we will succeed in getting back the Glory of Mangalore, though we have to stand up & pay a price for doing so.
But I know there won't be any dearth of people like Janardhana Poojary or Colaco who will stand firm against propaganda of divisive forces who seem to gain a short upper-hand at present.
God knows the Truth & He will Deliver all those who believe & have Faith in him. He will do it at the Right Time, till then Stand Up & be Counted.

I agree with Colaco's idea of universal religion. There are different ways to reach One God. In essence all regligions user same moral principles and ethics.

Colaco is doing good job of gaining confidence of Hindu brothern and if we have only few semiliar people working towards this objective, we will live in harmony and weed out extremist's ideologies.
