Udupi, Oct 15: Thousands of Catholics who have been the torch-bearers of faith in the Udupi districts will be witnesses to a historic moment in the church annals. Catholics of the region have waited eagerly for decades wishing and praying that Udupi would be granted the status of Diocese. As they say the fruits of long waiting are always sweet. A few hours from now, Udupi will officially be the ninth Roman Catholic diocese under the Archdiocese of Bangalore, fulfilling the dream of thousands of faithful.

Very happy to see Udupi Diocese. God bless each and every one wo has helped for this special occassion. Most importantly police force, govt department and others. I have a great respect for local hindu families who is so wonderful and kind in helping. When I visited to Mangalore during St.Lawrecne feat I have seen so many my hindu nieghbours visted Karkal church with great spirit and they are regular visitors for the last 25 years it seems. I was surprised to see them visiting church in the night travelling almost 100km distance to church by renting vehicles. God bless every one and pray for those who is away from god and help them to see one god regardless of who religion we belongs. God loves us and we do that same to him

On the historic inauguration of Udupi diocese, I hope and pray that Bishop and the faithful will recapture faith and fear of God spiritual and traditional values of life for God's abundant blessing. I do hope that along with it, the you will also discover history and our heritage as well as our legacy that will enable us to take pride on our past and find a bright future in the ministry and mission of our Lord for his people! The participation of people of other faiths is indeed commendable, and I am sure it will recapture the legacy and history of Kalianpur and Udupi in the religious ethos of our land, and usher in 'peace on earth and goodwill among all people,' thus fulfill the heavenly message conveyed when our Lord came to dwell on earth. May God be with you all now and for all eternity!
