Udupi, Oct 15:
"Movies should help in building a healthy society by conveying meaningful messages to the viewers," said Fr Philip Neri Aranha, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, during the muhurat of Konkani telefilm 'Angelina' which will soon be produced in the temple city.

The telefilm is being produced by Adel D’Souza and Jeevan Lazarus, two youngsters of Santhekatte and Brahmavar.

Fr Philip Neri blessed the production unit and the entire crew.

In his address he said that the society needs films that convey good messages to society. "Today media is a powerful weapon which can spread positive values as well as negative ones. It depends on the individual as to how he assimilates information," he said.

Director Vinod Gangoli in his address said that Konkani is one of the richest languages among all. In India Konkani is spoken in only four states, but how many films have been made in Konkani as compared to other languages?" he said.

On 'Angelina' he said, "In India we can see how women are being treated in society today. 'Angelina' means messenger, so we planned to give a valuable message to people through our telefilm."

Jerry Vincent Dias in his presidential address said that he was pleasantly surprised when two youngsters told him about the telefilm. "In our life we may reach any height but we should not forget our mother tongue. Several times I have come across Konkani families in Gulf countries that speak only English. Catholics should come up in all fields, may it be business or administration."

Lead female role Snehal Mathias and others were present.

Joseph Rebello compered the programme, while Joseph Lazarus proposed the vote of thanks.

AJ production is a non-profit unit which focuses on encouraging talents in Konkani. This telefilm is dedicated to Mount Rosary Charitable Institute, Alangar, Moodbidri. 'Anjelina' is the story of a girl who is of marriageable age and has to go through all the ordeals that any girl goes through.
