Bangalore: Sandeep Hegde, Wife Soumya from DK Dist Commit Suicide

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 17 (DHNS) : A software professional and his wife, an ayurvedic doctor, were found dead at their residence at Amarjyothi Nagar, Vijayanagar, here on Tuesday night.

Sandeep Hegde, 28 , and Sowmya Kumari, 25 , were married for the last three and a half years. Hegde, from Moodabidri, was a test engineer with a leading IT firm here. Sowmya Kumari of Ujire was pursuing a course in yoga at Vivekananda Yoga Kendra, Jigani. They had no children.

Police are investigating the cause of the deaths. The tragedy came to light when Anup Kumar, Sowmya Kumari's relative, visited the couple’s home on Tuesday night. Anup Kumar said Hegde's mother, Shashikala, had alerted him that her son was not responding to phone calls. On her request, Kumar went to their house.

“When there was no response from inside, we entered the house by breaking open the door. Sowmya Kumari was lying on the bed with a part of her veil tied across her neck, while another part was hanging from a ceiling fan. I noticed blood and foam in her mouth. I found Sandeep’s body hanging from a ceiling fan in another room,” he stated in a complaint.

Anup Kumar told Deccan Herald that both families were shocked. They are clueless about the cause of the tragedy as the couple had no marital discord or financial problems.

The house owner, Veena Subramanya, said the couple were tenants in her house for the last three years. They were “happily married”, she said.

“Sowmya came to my house on Monday and I spoke to Sandeep the same night. That was my last meeting with them,” she told Deccan Herald.

Sandeep Hegde was the only son of his parents. His father, Chittaranjan, is a businessman at Mudbidri. Hegde did his MBA at Mangalore and later shifted to Bangalore after he got the job.

Shashikala, his mother, has a heart ailment. She was inconsolable and swooned when she heard about her son’s death. Sandeep and Sowmya visited Mudbidri days before the tragedy. They stayed with Sandeep's parents for three days, said family sources.

The bodies were taken to Mudbidri for cremation after an autopsy at Victoria Hospital.

May their soul rest in eternal peace. I absolutely agree with Riyaz Mangalore that highly qualified people fail to understand and face problems in life. Atleast these people are fortunate enough with education good family background , however there are thousands of people marginalised less fortunate , orphans but still they live a happy life smilingly. We must learn to accept the any situation in our personal life .

Dr Sowmya was my batch-mate in MD. I agree that she was sensitive and impulsive. But i am not able to accept that she committed suicide. There was definitely no long-standing tension or stress between them. Further probe into details of matter may reveal some hidden facts. Especially phone details of the specific day can be useful.
I am deeply saddened by the news. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family.
May their soul rest in peace.

"Pity me the heart, it's slow to learn. What a quick mind that looks at every turn".
We are human and as human beings we tend to make mistakes. No one is perfect. We don't know how we will react to a particular situation during a given period of time. Therefore, I request Daijiworld to have a counselling section on their website, where people who are having some sort of depression, anxiety disorders etc, can seek advice by sharing their problems through an anonymous name. Maybe this counselling can prevent them from taking such a drastic step and helping them to face life as it comes and live life to the fullest.

Accessive worry and over dependence on worldly matters, ignorance/careless about hereafter (after life), comparison with others and minding (taking deeply) others remarks and comments, lack of self control and patience, bad decisions with wrong conclusions, future fear, inferior feelings and unbearable putdowns, acts beyond limit and limitations, seeking instant solutions, unmindful about consequences are the main reasons for extreme destructive steps in life.
When the person feels completely helpless and senseless, by failing to seek divine help in distress, surrendering and obeying the devil’s advice (making evil to win), commits the worst crime, to get the fast relief and perishes/vanishes forever. Let us pray to God, not to allow us to be ungrateful to Him, by destroying the precious life and be the losers of everlasting life.

Many time we do know why these things repeat again and again with the newly wedded couple. Is our educational Institutions or Universities who are teaching psychology, counseling, msw colleges failed to address or do some re search based on previous people’s similar tragic incidents and open up counseling centre's in order to inculcate the with the depressed young and old, the new spirit of aliveness & hope. Our society should utilize time and energy in constructive activities which builds society.

Might be both couples are going through the mental trauma, depression or suffering physical ailment which they did not have the courage to disclose even to their own family members, doctors, friends. Suppressing one's own suffering mental, emotional, physical might have lead this type of extreme , sad act of suicide.

Might be murder angle may not rule out for money also.

Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family. May their soul rest in peace.

The hype that educated peaple residing in big cities are rich and enjoy better life is not always true. Most of them enjoy a very hectic life , amidst chaeos like traffic , work pressure , time constraint. They also lack quality food , as most of things available in city r adultered . Noise and air pollution also adding to agony , but biggest problem is lack of elders support as it was used to happen in joint families. There also other issues like repayment of housing loans , fear of losing job etc. Its surprising to see a average village labour enjoying a better and happy lifestyle than these peaple. The curse of city life is the curse we put on ourself. Things can get even worse in future. Sad to see two young live lost. May God have mercy on their soul and grant them Peace.

we need to educate the present generation the art of living( not by meditation),by real life experiences of some successful personalities, who are physically challened and some are financially crippled and some are illitrate like MR. Hajabba, then they will find thousnd reasons to live and not even a single reason to end their life.

We blame the people who commit suicide. If they were alive by chance, they also surely feel that committing suicide is wrong. But its the matter of time.

In life everyone go through the problem. Some talk to friends-relatives and come out of it. But some people dont open up their problem with others and take wrong step.

What is mentioned by Ravi Shenava is true. Psychologist & Sociologists should analyse such cases from that angle.
Last week Wife of an Employee of King Fisher Airlines in New Delhi committed suicide as she was not able to pay grocery bill which was insulting to her in her hi-fi society. Based on this case Human Rights commission has given Notice to Vijay Mallya for not paying Salary of his employees since many months and driving their dependents to suicide.

Once the new generation is accustomed to High Standard of living or Lavish life-style, then too much Stress of present job and not being able to get alternative job of equal remuneration, has driven many young people to take such negative decisions especially in Bangalore, Hyderabad & Chennai.

We need to find out and then tackle the problem .The Govt s should not just think of electricity ,water ,Housing etc Mental peace also is important .

India should make 1 child policy like China mandatory across India -Ted Mangalore..

What a foolish comment..The guy who died here too is the only son to their parents. I agree that India's population rate is high. But if we are able to curtail corruption, then India would be like heaven on earth. Your one child policy cannot be applied in India. Tomorrow you might say that India should adopt no child policy. So I completely disagree with your stupid comment Ted.
