Saudi Arabia: MASA Hosts Gala 'Aduge' Food Festival

Saudi Arabia, Oct 17: Mangalore Association Saudi Arabia – MASA celebrated the fifth gala food festival 'Aduge 2012' recently at Aziziyah, Saudi Arabia. The event was witnessed by an overwhelming presence of guests and members.

Vice-president Santhosh Shetty welcomed the gathering with greetings and invited president Ravi Karkera, general secretary Viraj Shetty, advisory committee chairman Madhav Amin and other excom members to the dais. All the stall owners were introduced one by one with their stall names and their delicious dishes, before the president inaugurated the event.

An awesome scene was set by Saudi Scaffolding Factory, Dammam that consistently supports the setting up of stalls involving steel pipes, wooden planks and tarpaulin, with the help of their professional scaffolders under the supervision of Santosh Shetty.

A number of creatively decorated stalls in seasonal colours created the right mood for the Food Festival.

The stalls were: 1. Royal Darbar by Roy Saldana and Team, 2. Tammana Team, 3. Ammi’s Kitchen by Mohd Shirva and Team, 4. Namma Kudla by Dayanand Shriyan and Kitty Group Team, 5. Coastal Bite by Sarita Aranha, Vidya Shetty and Team, 6. Mathias Bros. BBQ Stall by Stany Mathias and Bros, 7. Kudla Cuisine by Azeem Sheikh and Team, 8. Mumbai Chat House by Chetana Poojary and Team, 9. Thanda Thanda Cool Cool by Sunrise Cricketers Dammam, 10. Pan, Teaand Coffee Stall by Santosh Shetty, 11. Namma Kudla Toys by dayanand Shriyan and Padmanabh Pai and 12. Ring Game Stall by MASA.

Members and guests started pouring in slowly and steadily and the venue was fully packed by the time of inauguration of the event.

The stalls were providing a delicious dishes like kori rotti, noodles, creamy chutney, raita, moode, chapathi, neer dosa, pundi, idlee, patree, turmeric leaves gatti, veg, non-veg Gujarathi special Bhel Phuri, Paanir Puri, Dahi Batata Sev Puri, all varieties of Biriyanis, Grills, Kababs, Tikkas and many more including Jenjisukka, Pundi Marvai, Kori sukka, Vegandchicken pathrodde, fried rice, Italian chicken pasta, mangolian rice, chicken manchoorian, fish masala fry, fish, prawns and crab pullimunchi, chicken drumsticks, Kadle manoli, sambaar, white rice, all for lunch with different kind of Payasa and sweets and for snacks biscuit rotti, goli baje, Mangalore buns, sajjige bajil, masala dosa, Gatti, Naiyappa, dates cake loaf, kashi halwa, kesari baath, vada, charmuri etc along with majjige, phalooda, lassi, tang, ice creams, ice top, water, juices, lime soda, Tea and coffee.

Besides the Food Stalls, the stall No 12 which was set up a little far away at the corner attracted all men, women, young and old, children and kids alike. This stall was something different, because of the opportunity to secure a lot of prizes with fun by throwing rings at the gifts and prizes lying on the table for a very minimal amount.

Young children volunteers encouraged members and guests to purchase MASA raffle tickets under the supervision of Mohammed Nooman and Puttaraju. Attractive prizes were distributed among raffle prize winners.

Special highlights of the Festival were:

Team Tammana conducted a competition - catching a let loose Chicken - "Binneru Baideru, Kori Pattule" and the winner was Nagaraj Bajal.

Taraida Katta: - Organized by Narendra Shetty, Gopal Shetty and Satish Bajal. Overall winner was Narendra Shetty with eleven bounties.

Agoli Manjanne: Idli eating competition was conducted by Kudla Adventures - winners were Shakib Ahmed and Suresh Kumar.

Tarakari Band Orchestra: The evening was rocked and brought colors in the sky by the vibrant showcase of humorous Orchestra called ‘Tarakari Band’ by the dynamic and energetic team of MASA Kudla Adventures led by Satish and Nagaraj Bajal.

The sponsors for this gala event were: Madhav Amin, Joey Fernandes, Ravi Karkera and Santhosh Shetty.

The day and night efforts put in by the Stall owners were well appreciated by the president and Excom. The president Ravi Karkera announced the most awaited moment of the day, the winners of the food festival contest.

The prestigious Best Food Stall award was bagged by Namma Kudla. Kudla Cuisine and Mumbai Chat House secured second and third Prize respectively.

Best Snacks Stall was awarded to Kudla Cuisine and 2nd place won by Mumbai Chat House and 3rd place went to Tammana Team.

Best Decorative Stall was awarded to Tammana Team, Mumbai Chat House got 2nd prize and Coastal Bite won the 3rd prize.

Best Hygienic Stall was awarded to Kudla Cuisine, 2nd prize was won by MBBS Stall and 3rd prize by Coastal Bite.

Panel of judges were: Ravi Karkera, Viraj Kumar Shetty, Sadanand Poojary, Usman Hosangadi, Sujaya R Karkera, Mahima S Poojary, Ansia Sherief Karkala and Rehmat Ibrahim Karkala.

With the conclusion of award ceremony, MASA Food Festival “Aduge 2012” ended on a memorable note, with its motto to entertain its members in the most delightful refreshing way.

The president thanked all the participants, guests, members and volunteers. He has also invited all the members and guests for the 6th Anniversary of MASA scheduled on December 13, 2012.

May God bless all and we expect many more such event to be conducted by MASA,,,why not you conduct food festival one in Winter time?

    Santhosh/Ravianna it's time to look for a new location for next year's food festival. Number of stalls and stall size is growing each year. Very good article, well arranged photos. Congratulations for all stall owners for putting up this massive show. Slowly this annual food festival is turning up as a "ANNUAL KUDLA FESTIVAL". Congrats for all MASA members. Missing you all.
