Beltangady: Sowjanya Murder Case - Family Demands CoD Probe

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (VM)

Beltangady, Oct 18: The family of Sowjanya, the 17-year-old who was found raped and killed near Pangala, Dharmasthala here on October 10, has demanded that the case be handed over to the CoD.

The family members, addressing a press meet here on Wednesday October 17, said that only a probe by the CoD would reveal the truth.

Soujanya’s father, Chandappa Gowda and grandfather Babu Gowda addressed the mediapersons.

They claimed that there have been many cases of rape and murder in the past few months in Dharmasthala, and these cases too should be investigated along with Soujanya’s case.

Santhosh Rao, who has been arrested in connection to the case is not the only accused, it is understood that there were others involved in it, they said.

"To get a clear-cut idea on the case, it should be handed over to the CoD," they urged.

They also asked the officials concerned to take back the cases booked against residents for protesting against the police. "It is wrong to book cases against people for raising their voice against the crime," they said.

Kushalappa Gowda, president of Okkaliga Sangha, Purandar among others were present.

In this case the police are not able to crack the case. Some influential people are involved for sure or who knows if police personnel are involved? Big question to be answered! All the so called saviors of Indian culture are dumb, deaf and blind.

I do not have confidence on DK police to get right punishment to culprits, but I trust in one who is above all, and we call him our GOD, surely without much delay HE will command the
Justice to Sowjanya fly and right punishment to all the original culprits. Watch and see it is impossible to escape from HIM who holds your breath and watches all your doings.
God bless INDIA, let there be JUSTICE and TRUTH everywhere.

Belthangady/DK Police should be transferred immediately. COD is the best option and the facts can be out very soon. Home minister must intervene and order the probe through high level sources.

Of course ! This is unfair and unjust . The real culprits apparently belonging to respectable families are closely watching the happenings and bidding time so public soon forgets the episode. For sure they have a good backing up by some vested interests.
During the home stay attack, we had the various College unions crowding the streets with banners and shouting foul at top of their voices. Local politicians took time off from their homes and walked in Morchas sweating in the hot sun swaying their paunches in their white shirts. Numerous youth parties mushroomed in support . All these groups tried to capitalize on the situation for political mileage, publicity stunt, recognition etc,
WHY ARE ALL THESE HYPOCRITES QUIET NOW. Isnt Sowmya a Human being ? Or is she a race below the ‘home stay’ victims ? Or apparently since Sowmya is from a poor family this whole episode would not be of any political advantage for these perverts.
I don’t think they would sit tight if it had happened to their own daughters/sisters.

Karnataka Police is sold to BJP. The real rapists are walking tall and a mentally retarded person is made a scape goat in view to protect the culprit, who are politically influential. The people who protested to catch the rapists have been booked. The media person who exposed criminals in Morning Mist was booked. Under BJP rule, the thief is free and the house owner is guilty. It is very very unfortunate that well educated people of Karnataka are fooled by illiterate BJP leaders.

Just compare the Original Photo of Santhosh Where he looked like a weak beggar, and now see above latest Photo where his hair is oiled, beard trimmed, given a bath, given clean lungi and clean tee-shirt.
Why Police have done this ? Why he is not given full-sleeve shirt, but given half-sleeve Tea-shirt ?
This was done by the Police to impress upon the onlookers & media that he is not mentally ill. Tea-shirt is given to show that he is muscular and has physical strength to subdue 17 year old tough village girl and murder her.
All is planned by Police with some motive.

Authorities should ensure that the holy name of famous Pilgrimage Centre like Ujire/Dharmasthala is not tarnished.

Everyday I am searching news magzine about the of this case. Media follows so many other unwanted things very closely and publish it repeatedly. But cases like sowjanya in one day disappear from media. The demand of sowjanya's parents is genuine. Our police will not do anything. They will close file bcz of evidence problem after 1 year. If public dont catch santosh and hand over to police. I dont think police track him. Even they cant think in this direction. Mentally disabled person raping a girl. IF SOMEBODY ASSIST ME IN UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS THE MEANING OF "MENTALY DISABLE". The people whom I saw having mental problem they are not clean as santosh. They will be in thier own world. but seeing in pictures i dont think santosh have any mental problem. Authorities must solve this case immediately and punish the culprits.

I agree with Mr KRPrabhu, Kudla/Bangalore. The body language of Santhosh does seems that he is ashamed of what he did. By now the police should have atleast broken his legs see the way he is standing. Shame on you policemen I thought by now his face must have been swollen with slaps.

Yes Shenava, 54 unsolved cases of young girls between the age of 15 & 25 yrs, that too only in Belthangady Taluka alone, all belonging to lower middle class families.
B.T. Lalitha C Nayak a well known Social Worker and Kannada writer had narrated her personal experience in Gauri Lankesh Weekly about the existence of Mafias in Belthangadi Taluk targeting Pilgrims coming to Dharmasthala and looting them and Molesting the young girls, and Pilgrims do not dare to report the matter to Police, or even if reported to Police they have not taken action. Lalitha Nayak herself is reported to have been Looted by Rowdy gang in Ujire and misbehaved with her young daughter.
Just because the Pilgrimage of Dharmasthala may get bad name all over India, some vested interests have ensured that such cases are not reported in media.

I think public should support sowjanya's parents and put more pressure on handing over the case to COD or CBI then only this issue can be solved. Public demand will make lot of difference and i am sure the culprits will be caught very soon only if public along with the corporator keep up their spirits by pratically supporting sowjanya's family.

Police themselves are confusing the whole Case. Lunatic Santhosh seems to have been just fixed.
As per TV9 report in last Two Years alone 54-YES-Fifty Four girls have gone Missing or Committed Suicide or Raped & Murdered. And non of these have been convincingly investigated by Police and taken to logical end.
So, Sowjanya's family demanding COD probe is quite justifiable.
