Beltangady: Missing Diploma Students Found in Mangalore

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Oct 18: The four diploma students of SDM College, Ujire who had gone missing on October 12,  were found in Mangalore on Wednesday October 17.

Udaya B C (17), Boppanna (17), Nuthan H C (17) and H C Nitheshraj (17), students of first year diploma in the College, had gone missing on October 12. A case in this regard had been lodged in Beltangady police station.

It is said that the four of them went to Mangalore and from there caught a train to Mumbai and then returned to Mangalore via Goa.

The police traced their mobile phone calls and took them into custody when they came back to Mangalore.

Being poor in studies as well as in attendance at college, the four of them ran away fearing reprimand from parents.

All four of them have been reunited with their parents.

I don't think that the students were poor in studies. If they were poor in studies, I don't think they would have got admission in Diploma Engineering. These days even first class in SSLC / PUC would not guarantee an admission in Polytechnic Colleges. There must be something else. Daal mein kuch kaala hai....

    Dear Students,
Marks are not the only criteria to judge what you are. That measurements is based on external factors - opportunity to learn. If your family, community or school does not give you an opportunity to excel you can't score.
Here is my success storey : in grade 10, I scored just 40 % and some 36% and then Pre-university 60 % and in graduation 75 % and Masters – 90 %. Now, I’m happy I struggled and worked hard.
I had no opportunity to excel when I was kid and used every success point as stepping stone towards my target. Hence, don’t worry you all do well. Marks is just number !! Unfortunately, many parents get frustrated when you score less. But my advice is when you score less, you have an opportunity to learn. But when you score high, you tend to think you know everything. Best analogy is half filled gas water : Look at this way, if a glass if filled only 40 % you have opportunity to fill another 60 % . Hence, don’t even think you are only 40% filled glass…

This is the result of forcing children to study. Times have changed.
It is not essential that children should be forced to go for study when they have interest elsewhere.
May be they will excel in business, sports, politics, etc. Parents should counsel and find the real interest in time and encourage to pursue such interest. Everyone need not become a doctor, engineer or lawyer. So many options are available.

Dear Juliet Mascarenhas, Bejai/Mangalore - I do not agree with you point of view. Do not give any statements without knowing the facts. How can you say that these students were confined between the four walls. First of all they are not girls. These guys might have thought of having a gala time and went on rambling around. It is surprise once again how they had so much money with them. Nevertheless, they are back now and might have given a briefing or whatever by Mangalore police. Leave them alone, as somebody rightly said they will excel in their lives....

    Mumbai & Goa trip !
Reason : Poor perfomance in studies
    Punishment : ?????
These boys will understand the real tension of parents when they get married and have children .
My judgement : Parents should take out all mobile phones and laptop or computer from boys possession. It is a good punishment

Guys your decision is not acceptable by the society. This is the time you have to put efforts and excel.Life is not easy the world is competetive.Parents struggle and foster you to this comeptetive world. The credential you accomplish is an asset.First priority to god and put efforts and study you will lead to success.
Take it as a advise not a order. Good Luck

I agree with the comments of Mr Olvi. Parent should excuse them now and should not harsh them. May be they are not interested in studies. Force is of no use. Let them choose their own career. That.s all

Punishment for low marks and attendance is not a concern, if we fear God and respect our parents.

What type of hope the parents can have, who is very much worried and struggling hard, to bring up their children, in today’s critical environment, with the expectation of their better future?
If they (the children) lose hope in life and take extreme actions, for silly reasons, what will be the reward for parents’ hope, sweat and tears?

Thank God they are back home. In life there are some setbacks, we all commit mistakes.
But we should get up and learn. The parents should not punish these boys now but be sympathetic to them, ask them what they want to pursue, maybe they dont want to carry on with the same course they are doing in the college.
Readers please dont put any nasry remarks here maybe one day even your own children can do that way.

Advise to parents - whenever their wards perform poorly in their academic studies, do not scold or frighten them, rather console them and affectionately describe the need one should have the good education and the negative side if one is less educated or totally illiterate. Conclude the conversation with the phrase - work hard and try to bring good score next time. I am sure this will work wonders. This is my personal experience. Try it out.

learn from now''-I'm still learning and still remembering those words!
