Bangalore, Oct 20: The fourth national conference on the theme, Cooperatives for resurgent India, will be held in Bangalore under the auspices of Sahakar Bharati for two days from January 18, 2013.

Over 5,000 delegates from across the country and 1000 cooperative institutions are expected to participate in the meet being held at National College grounds, Basavanagudi in Bangalore to be inaugurated by Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Sahakar Bharati national president Satish Marathe said the conference would focus on impact of direct tax code on the cooperative movement; impact of the 97th constitutional amendment which enshrines the right to form a cooperative as a fundamental right;

The conference would chart an effective role for cooperatives to strengthen the economy, Marathe said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Cooperation Minister B J Puttaswamy will participate in the two conference.

Members of primary agricultural cooperative societies, dairy cooperatives, urban cooperative banks and district cooperative societies would also participate in the conference.

Sahakar Bharati was founded in 1978 and has a strong network of cooperatives and cooperators and is committed to promote cooperative as an alternate form of economic enterprise.

Karnataka State Apex Bank President Manjunath Gouda said the Apex Bank has urged the Sahakar Bharati hold the meet in Bangalore to demonstrate the achievements of State in cooperative sector to the rest of the country.
