Kuwait: KICC-A Win KCWA Cricket Cup

Kuwait, Oct 20: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), held “KCWA Cricket Cup” on Friday 19th October at KOC Grounds, Ahmadi. A total of 9 teams participated in the tournament, which was held exclusively for KCWA members only. KICC-A won the coveted “KCWA Cricket Cup 2012” by winning the thrilling finals.

The tournament began at 6:30 am. President of KCWA Stephen Machado welcomed the teams & guests. In the first Semi-final Udupi Friends beat Sharq United by 10 wickets and in the second Semi-final KICC-A beat YMCC by 8 wickets. In the thrilling Finals KICC-A beat Udupi Friends by 7 wickets.

















































The concluding ceremony was held at 4.30 pm in the presence of Chief Guests Mrs. Helen Pinto & Mr. Pascal Pinto with KOC Cricket Committee official Mr. Iqbal Vanu, who along with former presidents Jossie Pinto & Rudy D’Souza distributed trophies to the winners. Lucky draw was held for all the people gathered at the event. Sports Secretary Dr. Manohar Prabhu conducted the prize distribution ceremony.

Individual winners are as follows;

Player of the Preliminary Rounds – Melwun Suares – President’s XI
Best Batsman – Ian – Sharq United
Best Bowler – Godwin – Udupi Friends
Man of the match (Finals) – Jason – KICC-A
Player of the Tournament – Dion – Udupi Friends

Archie Menezes was the match referee. Rudy D’Souza, Deepak Andrade & Manohar Prabhu did the announcements and live commentary. Anand D’souza/Lancy Rodrigues provided the sound. Delicious breakfast & lunch was served by M&M Confectionery. Dr. Manohar Prabhu, Naveen Mascarenhas, Alex Rego and Melwyn Serrao coordinated the successful event and were ably supported by other KCWA Committee members.
