Mangalore/Udupi, Oct 21: Heavy rains lashed parts of Udupi and Mangalore city on Saturday October 20.

Few areas of Dakshinna Kannada received heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder. In rural and urban areas of Sulia taluk, the downpour began on Friday.

The flag pole of Panja Shree Parivaara Panchalingeshwara temple is said to be damaged. The rain disrupted power supply in many areas.

People of Subramanya were left without electricity supply as a result of the heavy rain till Saturday noon. The strong winds uprooted several trees and power poles.

Parts of Mangalore city received light rainfall. A house in Mudnnur gram is said to be damaged after a huge tree fell over it. Places like Mulky, Bajpe, Surathkal, Bantwal, Belthagady, Ullal received moderate rainfall.

Several parts of Udupi district like Kapu, Shirva, Hebri, Karkala received heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lighting. Flood-like situation was created in several low-lying areas.

The rains that lashed on Friday and Saturday brought some relief to the farmers.
