Mangalore, Oct 26: Bakrid was celebrated across the city on October 26 with the spirit of sacrifice.
People from all across town were seen thronged at the mosque to offer prayers to Almighty.
From conventional prayers at Idgahs to community feasts, the mood is festive. The day began with morning prayers at the mosques for men,
The feast of sacrifice, as it is known generally, celebrates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to God. During this time, pilgrims perform the Haj asking God for forgiveness.
The sacrificial animal on this day is distributed among friends, family and the poor after offering prayers. The feast is being celebrated across the coastal regions of the country on October 26, while for the rest of India it will be observed on October 27.
