Mangalore: 'Ramayana' Poetic Drama to be Staged on Nov 3 for a Cause

Mangalore, Oct 31: UXCEL-Trinity Mangalore will stage 'Ramayana' play in English on Saturday November 3 at 6 pm at St Agnes College auditorium, Bendore, said Prof Maria Phyllis D’Costa, director of the play.

Over a hundred artistes will be taking part in the play which will be in the form of poetic drama. "This is a charity show to be held in aid of destitute, deprived and diseased children," she said.

The 100 actors in the play are amateurs and dancers of different ages and from different walks of life, including doctors. They have been brought together for training and practice for over three weeks. People from orphanages have also been picked and trained for the show.

To bring in the epic flavour, the team has determined to blend in the skills of drama and communication, classical music, song, dance and Yakshagana.

The charity show will be in aid of Prashanth Nilaya, White Doves and Cardts Samvedana.

Entry tickets are available at School Book Company, Car Street and Dinoo’s, Falnir, at Rs 200, Rs 300 and Rs 500.

The duration of the play is about 2.5 hours. The play will focus from Dasharata stage to Ram's victorious homecoming with Sita from Sri Lanka, she added.

    ths is very much helpful fo new generatn who dnt knw mch abt ramayan..it sounds good tht nearly 100 actors r takng part in this..i thank those actors who r takn part in tht bec of them v cn watch the drama so all the best to the team....:)wsh a good success:)

    Wonderful initiative...! The great epics - Ramayana and Mahabharath are rich in human virtues and basic human values. I suppose not many have tried presenting it as an English play. I wish the organizers and actors all the very best...
