Kuwait: Buntara Sangha Hosts Star-studded Buntaayana-2012

Kuwait, Oct 31: Buntara Sangha Kuwait (BSK) organized “Buntaayana 2012” an annual mega cultural event recently at the American International School.

Bollywood star Suniel Shetty was the chief guest for the occasion along with Kannada music director GuruKiran and Filmfare award winning Sandalwood actress Yajna Shetty as guests. Bharata Natya Vidwan Kudkadi Vishwantah Rai graced the occasion as a guest of honour. BSK members welcomed the guests along with Tulunadu special drum beats and “Poorna Kumbha Swagatham”. They along with managing committee inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp followed by the invocation dance by the members of the Sangha.

BSK President N Satishchandra Shetty welcomed the gathering and in his speech explained the history of bunts and their contribution to the society. Guests were felicitated with shawl, fruit basket and mementoes. Three of the BSK members Aikala Sudhakar Shetty, Prakash K.Shettyand Sudarshan Shetty were felicitated with mementos for their outstanding services to the Sangha. Gold sponsors of the event M/S Oriental Restaurants, M/S Raith Engineering and Manufacturing Co WLL and Silver Sponsor M/s Al-Askafi Center were also felicitated by BSK.

Presence of Indian Ambassador for Kuwait Satish C Mehta was made the evening special and he addressed the gathering by mentioning the hard work, integrity and achievements of the community in India and abroad.

Chief guest Suniel Shetty spoke about Bunts culture, his Bollywood venture, and concluded his speech with a small social interaction session with the crowd. Gurukiran expressed his happiness on the efforts of the Sangha to showcase its culture and traditions in Kuwait. Another guest Yajna Shetty expressed her gratitude to BSK for the invitation to participate in the event.

Guest of honour Bharata Natya Vidwan Kudkadi Vishwantah Rai begin his speech by introducing and donating a “Tulu Nighantu” a lexicon that speaks a million words with 6 volumes of cultural encyclopaedia published by Govind Pai Research Centre, MGM College-Udupi, that holds over 100,000 Tulu words, phrases, proverbs, folklore, flora, and dialects, elucidating the richness of this ancient Dravidian language in its varied hues. Further he appreciated the BSK efforts towards preserving and promoting Bunts Culture and concluded by his speech donating a set of books published by him to BSK.

The crowd was entertained by guest artist from India Ashok Polali and Team with variety of dances. A seven feet tall artificial cock built by him was used to perform A “Koridance” which delighted the entire audience.

A special Buntaayana Skit “Eluver Deviyer” was performed by BSK members who were introducing the richness, rituals and traditions of the seven Devi temples of the Tulunadu. A guest artist from Bahrain Aastika Sunil Shetty also performed a Bharatanatya in this skit. The evening was filled with many cultural performances by the members of the Sangha.

General Secretary Jaysheel Shetty thanked the participants, Sub-Committee members, Sponsors and well wishers for their continued support. The program was coordinated by Rakshak N Shetty and well compered by Shalini V Shetty, Smitha M Shetty and Chethana P Shetty.
