Sowjanya Case: MLA Appeals People to Stop Spreading Rumour SMS

Belthangady, Nov 7: MLA Vasanth Bangera on Tuesday November 6 appealed to the public to stop spreading rumours and false SMS regarding the rape and murder of Sowjanya near Pangala, Dharmasthala last month.

Addressing a press meet held at Dharmasthala gram panchayat here, he said, "These days rumours are being spread alleging the involvement of state Congress in Sowjanya murder case. There are SMS going around that the culprit is being backed by Congress leaders. This is not true, if there are any doubts let the police investigate every Congress leader. The truth will be revealed".

"During the investigation, if Congress leaders are found guilty, arrest them but do not spread rumours," he added. He said the police should catch the mischief mongers soon.

"I joined politics in the year 1968, now I am 68. I have won four times as MLA. In my entire political career I have not supported any type of murder, rape, corruption or any other crime and now I have personally taken the initiative to bring out the truth in Sowjanya’s case," he said.

Vasanth Bangera also demanded that the case be handed over the case to the CBI soon.

He said that although the police have identified Santhosh Rao to be the accused, the public do not seem to trust the police. Hence the state government should take this into consideration and soon handover the case to CBI, he added.

"In this regard, I have personally met the chief minister and the home minister," he said.

He also asked police to withdraw the cases filed against the people for protesting at the time of Santhosh Rao arrest.

Keshav Belalu, panchayat president, gram panchayat members Prabhakar, Surya Prakash among others were present.

Sources said that, the district court has granted anticipatory bail to Keshav M, taluk panchayat president including four others.

BJP however has no reputation. and thy do not want congress to win. evevrybody knows whats goin on in BJP. people are not foolish. so whoever these culprits are stop ur nonsense and learn to do something wise and productive. useless goons!

    This is not the time to discriminate on the grounds of caste, creed or political parties.A young girl raped and killed by a group. Justice delayed is justice denied. Were are the protestors , political parties, various politicians, students,student organizations, vedikes who revolted against the home stay attack,, this is a much bigger Catastrophe. Why are they quiet now, Will you wake up only when it happens to some one in your family?????

    May be BJP trying to take advantage from sowjanya rape & murder case, instead of Spreading rumour SMS why not BJP demanding the case be handed over to the CBI? Still their Govt ruling in state!
    This is all known truth, BJP always playing dirty politics to make disharmony in the society.

    Dear Ismail..I am calling Gadkari as "Thug". Thug asking for probe refers to Gadkari's statement recently asking for probe about his dealings...I have never called Mr. Bangera as thug here. My only intention was Mr. Bangera should not bother about rumours. If he gives statements like this, then people might think that congress is involved in this case. So I equated Mr. Bangera's statement to that of thug Gadkari's statement asking for probe about his dealings. And I will not call anybody thug unless I know about that person. I have not heard anything bad about Mr. Bangera and hence there is no reason for me to call him as thug..The "thug" refers to Gadkari...

    Rashmi Salian,once I read your comments degrading others and as if you know everything which is 100% right..You still continued....you are taking both political parties in same eyes...In the process,You are making incorrect comments against some individual (VASANTH BANGERA BELTHANGADY MLA)as an thug!!FYI,I know him personally for quite long time neither he is corrupt nor thug instaed he is known social worker.Especially,in Sowjnaya's case,when police booked cases against agitators (mostly against Sanghparivars)Vasantha Bangera MLA,contacted top police officials and even had representation with CM on the issue.In some other media it is stated that some big shots are involved!!! All these blah blahs are speculation and if Santhosh Rao booked, there may be strong evidences like Forensic/DNA and other scientific tests against him if not Court will give him outright bail.Therefore, it is better not to speculate and give authorities some time to establish the case on merit.

    First thing is people do not believe politicians and in case of Sowjanya's muder not at all.It is apparent that there is beyond what we see and hear in this case and accused Santhosh.Shanthosh may be a scapegoat who was projected by by real culprits.People do not believe the politicians here, be it from Congress or BJP or otherwise.People should support the protest initiatve taken by Kemaru Swamiji.Protest should be intensified till the case is handed over to CBI.

    Bangera's comment is similar to thug Gadkari's comment saying "Probe me"..Thug asking for probe and Bangera's statement are quite similar. Definitely politician's are involved in this case. If not, why there is no progress in this case?

    Why this guy is too much worried about SMS or anything? He is the MLA of that constituency & it's his duty to give justice to the victim instead of holding press conference. There seems to be involvement of Political leaders where the Area is dominated by Congress. Hope that the truth will come out & the guilty would be hanged in Public. Don't show any sympathy to such typeof Heinous Crime.

    If the girl had been murdered by an ordinary person he'd have been behind the bars by now. The unnecessary delay by the police in pursuing the case smacks foul play. As for Vasanth Bangera's comments, let him show one untainted politician in today's Dakshina Kannada. Has any politician ever admitted that he or his party is corrupt. It is open secret that powerful people are involved in the murder.

    The public doesn't care which party the culprit belongs to but all it wants is to punish him.

    A rape and murder of a young girl is unforgivable crime. Party can play no role in convincing the public for forgiveness on the basis of its credit.

    See how the police could crack the case of the Spanish rape victim despite the accused wiping out all evidences ? Why isn't it possible in Karnataka ? Change the inefficient police chief before the people come on street.
