'BJP Opposed US Dairy Items Over Cows' Non-Veg Diet'

New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS): BJP leader Sushma Swaraj Wednesday said that former US ambassador Timothy Roemer had raised the issue of dairy exports from his country during the visit of President Barack Obama to India two years ago but she had not accepted the suggestion as cows were given non-vegetarian diet in the US.

Sushma Swaraj said at a function organised by Rashtriya Godhan Mahasangh here that Roemer met her before she was to make courtesy call on Obama.

Without naming Roemer, she said the "US ambassador came to talk on certain issues".

She said the ambassador told her that his country wanted to export dairy products to India. "I told him it is not possible as cultural issues are involved. In our country, cow is vegetarian, you feed her non-vegetarian (diet)," Sushma Swaraj said.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that she had told the then US ambassador that "Indians will not even like to touch, not to speak of drinking" product made of such milk. She told him that cows in India were served with items like mustard oil cake, cotton seeds and grass.

Sushma Swaraj said when the ambassador told her that they will also give vegetarian diet to the cows so that diary products were exported to India, she told him that it will take three years to take out effect of non-vegetarian food given to cows.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said the terms of import of diary products from Australia was strictly negotiated so that they keep it "vegetarian". Obama, who was re-elected as US president, had visited India in November 2010.

    In predominant Muslim nations they don't restrict selling pork and pork products, though they don't eat pork. In Arab hotels there are pork dishes along with other items in their buffet spread. Though India is a democratic republic, cattle buyers, beef sellers and consumers are treated badly.
    The purpose of cow milk, as in other mammals, is to feed calves during the early stages of life. More than 80 % of milk is stored in udder alveoli and is transferred to the cistern by a neuro-hormonal reflex initiated by the contact of the calf’s mouth with the udder that culminates in the contraction of the myoepithelial cells surrounding the alveoli by the action of oxytocin liberated from the pituitary gland.
    There is a raging controversy about whether milk is a vegetarian food or non –vegetarian. Skeptics say that since it is an animal origin food it should be designated as non-vegetarian and not consumed after infancy as it is then not required. On the other hand, pro-milk drinkers say that milk is a vegetarian food since it is not procured by killing the animal and does not consist of any animal part. Vegans do not consume any milk or milk based product.
    There are somatic cells in milk, which are just normal animal cells that are in all animal's milk, it's a part of lactation. But yes, they're actual body cells from the animal. Most of the cells in cow milk are either white blood cells or cells from the udder tissue. In fact, the legal limit for somatic cell counts in milk is 750,000 cells per milliliter - which is about 0.03 of an ounce!
    Human beings are the only species (other than house cats) to consume milk past childhood.
    We are also the only species to consume the milk of another species. Yet, at about the age of four, most people around the world begin to lose the ability to digest lactose, the carbohydrate found in milk. This results in a condition known as lactose intolerance that causes unpleasant abdominal symptoms, including stomach cramps and diarrhea.

    Our Cows in India are Chemical Cows . In Bangalore people set their cows free during the day and then you will find them Sitting and eating Garbage eating plastic, paper and rotten garbage , and whatever available in garbage bins. Same cows are milked and the fresh milk is distributed.

    In pepsi and coca cola there is a small amount of alcohol.
    People drink with so much interest and Kyaaaa pyaaaas bhujaathi hai.

    In the curds which we have daily is also fomenting itself and produces a small quantity of alcohol. Without curds many cannot have food.

    In the Ayurvedic Medicine they add a large quantity of alcohol.

    RSS is secretely drinking pepsi and coca cola and not publicly.
    BJP are drinking publicly.

    In the sultanate of oman cow is eating sardines/bhuthai/tharle/matthi. They donot give bangude/mackerels because that is costly. In the year 1990 when i was in Sultanate of Oman for one riyal they were giving one plastic bag full of sardines.

    BJP opposed 02 years back and Sushmajiii is telling now because elections (2014) are near. I think every one will vote for Mr Arvind Kejriwal's new party. BJP & Congress are the two faces of one coin.

    Milk itself is a purely NON-VEG food item whether milked from a lion or elephant. Even a human milk whether from a vegetarian mother or non-vegitarian mother is surely non veg in nature and content. It is all ulterior idiology of the right wing.

    When a cow dies on the road in accident with any vehicle, none of the moral groups come and co-ordinate to dispose the remains.
    But rather it will be lying there for days and decompose.

    My cow is eating pork also and we are selling milk to the public and hotels.

    No doubt she is sitting in oposition since 60 years. Reason: Majority of the people are not voting/allowing her to rule.
