Udupi, Nov 8: Dr G Shankar Government women's First grade college organized a workshop on “Rights and awareness” at their college on Thursday November 8.

The workshop will continue till November 9. It was inaugurated by professor Prakash Kanavi, principal Vaikunta Baliga College of Law.

The presidential address was delivered by Ashwathamma, principal of  Government women's First grade college.

Prakash Kanavi briefed the audience on the rights and awareness with emphasis on -living life with respect and dignity.

The general observation has been that a person who read a lot especially on this subject will be more aware.

"Rights and awareness in law, Rights and awareness on equality, Rights and awareness in social and economical right, Rights and awareness on environment, all this rights teach one how to 'earn the life'", he said.

“Rights and awareness” also means a responsibility towards the nation.

The workshop mainly concentrated on the human rights and the awareness of the existence of such rights.

"We are ignorant of our own rights in the society, especially considering daily life. After independence we have accomplished a lot in 65 years; the nation is socially, economically developed but still there are many citizens who are unaware of their rights, such programmes will be a small step to create an awareness among the common man", he said.
