Yeddyurappa Installs Loyalist Dhananjaya Kumar as KJP President

Bangalore, Nov 9 (PTI): Seeking to give momentum to his stated objective to float a regional party, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today installed his loyalist V Dhananjaya Kumar as President of Karnataka Janatha Paksha (KJP) as he prepared to officially quit the BJP next month.

Kumar, who served as Minister of State for Finance and Textiles in the NDA government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was expelled from BJP recently after he launched a broad-side against Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.

KJP sources said he would serve as interim President and Yeddyurappa would take over the party leadership after KJP is formally launched at a rally at Haveri, some 350 km from here on December 9, with the former Chief Minister snapping ties with the BJP by then.

He said KJP is a registered state political party. It came into being only last year and has not contested elections so far. Its President Prasanna Kumar resigned from the post today, paving the way for Kumar to take over.

"As Yeddyurappa has said he will snap ties with the BJP, we are fervently pleading with him to come and join the KJP and lead it and guide and bless us", Kumar told reporters. "We are confident that Yeddyurappa will soon join us and lead us".

He charged the national parties – Congress and BJP – with not responding properly to regional problems and gave the recent Cauvery river water sharing row as an example, alleging that the two outfits failed to "utter a single word" in support of Karnataka’s interests.

"Our strong belief is that we need a regional party", he said.

KJP also announced is office-bearers. M D Lakshminarayana and K H Srinivasa were appointed general secretary and senior vice-president, respectively.

Yeddyurappa has repeatedly said in the last few weeks that his decision to quit the BJP is final and the question of reviewing it does not arise.

You change your COLOUR to suit the situation. Many of your comments were praising corrupt congress. You don't need to convince me or anyone now - Dinesh Poojary..

Dinesh, I don't have to convince anyone here. I am not hard core supporter of any political party. First you understand that. I am sure you have not read all my comments may be about DVS, Yediyurappa or Congress or Janata Dal. And I don't want to argue with you. Everyone on this forum knows about your hypocricy. And there is an old saying "don't argue with an idiot" and hence I don't want to argue with you. It's of no use. It's like putting water on rock where the rock can't be melted. Fanatism is like a rock here.

The political chess game of Karnataka is advancing in a diffent angle. The prime factor of the BJP in Karnataka, especially establishing the roots of BJP in south India is going to play just the opposite game of uprooting BJP to show Mr. Yeddyurappa's inborn style of political dynamics.

Ashok, why he has to contest panchayat election? If we contests, then he will loose his deposit. He used to won the election because people had great respect for Atal Behari Vajapayee. Now there is no leader in BJP who can come near to Vajapayee's calibre.

I see the candidate and then vote and I don't blindly vote by looking at party. In BJP I admire only one person that is Atal Bihari Vajapayee and if you ask me in Karnataka, Haladi Srinivas Shetty is peoples' man and very principled gentlemen. Similary, I admire J.P.Hegde of Congress. Unfortunately, I don't see any person like Haladi and JPH in Mangalore.

Watch my word. BSY will be Next State BJP President and they will restore Dananjay Kumar his old position with elevation.

BJP central leadership has lost its back bone due to its own unethical means to achieve the goals and they are paying the price. They have not stood for values. IAC is already entering in BJP space and BJP will loose all its past glory which has been achieved by the sacrifice by the honest members, some even sacrificed their family and stayed single. There are many RSS members ( many are quite old) are really crying when they see the corrupt BJP politicians grabbing for power and looting.

When politics and self appeasement plays more important role than honesty, all these effects are bound to happen.

Strong clean opposition party is very healthy for democracy which is very much lacking in Karnataka and in India. Isn't it really pathetic?

This time the Hindu votes will be divided between BJP and KJP and muslim votes between congress and JDS. Thus it will be a close fight and no one can predict the outcome. I feel at the end all will join together to form a Government with only independents as opposition party.
For democracy to succeed in India, there is urgent need to merge all parties into two sections. Ruling party if it wins and opposition party if it loses. Two party system is very essential to save this country from corruption and maladministration. If this is not done then small regional parties will become so powerful that they can shake any Central or State Government thereby resulting in elections every two years. To make our democracy a success two party system should be brought into practice.
Let wisdom prevail upon our leaders.

If Yeddy tries hard he can form a good regional party. After all he is not so bad. But he must concentrate. As many people are fed up with Congress and BJP people are looking for a strong regional outfit. We had a mighty regional party in JD(S) but due to most most stupid gowda party became a meagre force now. Jd(S) must sort out its problems and consolidate its position. If they dont do it quickly people may look at yeddy as option. Yeddy is fully capable of getting few seats which can make hell of a difference in state politics. My only worry is that Yeddys presence must not benefit uselss congress . It is likely to benefit congress. If it benefits leaderless congress then the whole purpose is lost.Congress is equally bad as bjp.

Actually congress was the party to rule Karnataka.
Because of Kumara swami’s and his father’s lust they withdraw support to congress
A consensus has been reached in-between jds and bjp 2.5 year 2.5 years.
After Kumara swami’s tenure expired he didn’t handover power to yeddyurappa
Then once again Karnataka state citizens faced elections.
Congress vote was divided in-between JDS and congress
The votes of bjp were in tact. So the bjp won the elections.
If JDS was not there bjp was sitting in opposition continuously.

When Reddy brothers were in the ministry bjp was continuously winning elections due to money power. Now no vitamin M. Hence among themselves understanding to rule and fool the citizens of Karnataka
IN THE NEXT ELECTION CONGRESS VOTES WILL BE DIVIDED IN TO CONGRESS AND JDS
BJP VOTES WILL BE DIVIDED IN TO KJP AND BJP.

Before nearing of elections now only you are thinking of aligning with congress???!!! Astonishing. Now only a president is installed to a new party.

A party will come in to force only once the election commission approves and the approval of symbol is also most imperative. What is the symbol keisari Kamala or SECULAR KAMALA.

When a person joins congress they have to adhere congress rules and not KJP or BJP or RSS rules. If not they will not leave you but you will be humiliated to leave just like Mamata banarji.

Mamata Banarji told congress dares to throw me out.
Finally she herself withdrew and left. Nobody dares to withdraw support from congress.

Dinesh..I am not worried. I am not a blind supporter of Congress. KJP is big concern for BJP. BJP is in power and if KJP gets popular, then BJP will have to close their party office in Karnataka. Because of KJP, BJP's vote bank will be divided and it's beneficial for other party's like Congress and JDS. And it is possible that JDS will form next government in Karnataka with the help of KJP or Congress.

Mr Dananjaya Kumar one of the second MP of BJP from whole South India along with L K Advani.Apart from that he is first BJP MLA of Mangalore Assembly Constituency.Mr D.Kumar, worked with ABV ministery under NDA as junior finance Minister and Textile Minister in the union cabinet.Ananth Kumar and KPB are main back biters of D.Kunar who was sidelined and it is BSY who brought him to limelight as a Special Rep of Karnataka in Delahi.During the time of BSY,D.Kumar sucessfuly defended BSY in Delhi and Bangalore. He is hailing from VENOOR of Belthangady Taluk.
KJP, under the circumstances seems to viable alternative for official BJP.All political parties in Karnataka look forward 9th december of HAVERI convention of KJP.BSY may able to romp up leaders of all three major parties JDS/BJP/CONGRESS.KH Srinivas(EX Minister/Ex KPCC I Chief)is the latest entrant.Formation of KJP will bring colors to next Assembly election for sure.Meanwhile, four independent MLAs are met with KRISHNA and may join Congress.
