Kundapur, Nov 9: A major tragedy was averted by alert locals after one of the bogies of Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express caught fire here on Friday November 9 morning.

The incident occured at around 7.50 am when the train reached Bijoor in Byndoor.

It is said that one of the bogies of train number 12431 going towards New Delhi caught fire due to brake binding in the wheel.

On noticing the fire, the railway officials at the Bijoor railway gate at once stopped the train and evacuated the bogie.

The fire was brought under control, and after an examination of the wheel, the train resumed its journey after about half an hour.

Thanks to the presence of mind of the local railway employee Sanjay Byndoor and others, a major tragedy was averted.
