Daiji Dubai's 14th Anniv in Udupi with 'Aami Nathlya Vellar..'

Daijiworld Media Network

Dubai, Nov 12 : Unlike the last 13 annual celebrations, Daiji Dubai, a forum of Konkani Writers in the UAE, is planning to celebrate its 14th anniversary in Udupi this time.

The gala celebration will be held at Poorna Prajna College Auditorium at Udupi on Saturday January 26, 2013 at 4 pm.

So far, Daiji Dubai has always celebrated its anniversary in Dubai. However, the long established practice will be broken as it plans to celebrate their 14th anniversary back home by embracing the Konkani enthusiasts of South Canara.

‘Daiji Anniversary’ which has always been a high-profile and professionally managed entertainment programme is considered one of the prestigious Konkani events, patronized by a large audience every year. It has been a tradition to confer the prestigious ‘Daiji Puroskar’ on a Konkani literary personality during the event. The selection for the award is under process and will be announced in due course.

A part of the magnificent celebrations at Udupi will include a full length critically acclaimed stage play by the late Ramananda Churya, directed by well admired Dayan D’Souza. ‘AAMI NATHLYA VELLAR’ will be staged by Daiji Rang Mandir, a Center of Performing Arts and an extension of Daiji Dubai.  The play was written originally in Marathi by Madhusudan Kalekar and translated to Kannada by Ramanand Choorya. The play is expected to attract a packed gathering.

Walter Nandalike and Dayan D’Souza will once again come together on stage to play the central roles. They will be supported by other experienced Daiji Rangmandir actors Alwyn Pinto, Ramcy Fernandes, Nanu Marol, Asha Correa, Cynthia, Reegan, Godwin Castelino, Lavina Fernandes and Alphonse D'Souza.

The same stage play was magnificently presented to the audience in Dubai on April 13, 2012. Now Daiji Dubai has taken the courageous step for a repeat performance in Udupi on January 26, 2013, which promises to be bigger and better.

Besides its cultural identity in Konkani literature causes, ‘Daiji Dubai’ is also associated with many worthy social causes thereby motivating other people and organizations worldwide. Daiji Dubai is eagerly looking forward to present this event with a request to Konkani lovers to be present.

Newly-appointed Bishop of Udupi Diocese Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will grace the occasion as chief guest.

'The Eventz' group will take the responsability of event management. Leslie Rego, renowed master of ceremoney will compere the event.

A collection of Konkani short stories published by Daiji Publication will be released during the event. The book consists of 14 short stories written by all 14 Daiji Dubai annual award winners.

Those present at the venue will be given snacks free of cost and there will be attractive cash prizes in raffle draw.

More details will be available on daijiworld.com in the coming days.

One of the best drama. Well acted, writtern and directed. Had packed house here in dubai. The performance of every actor is worth commenting. The court scene in the drama is just a master piece. The drama should have shows all over so that konkani world can enjoy it. we Really enjoyed every bit of it. all the best Dayan and whole AMI NATHLYA VELAR team.
