The road from Vamanjur junction to Pilikula is very narrow and bad. It is time that the Govt / Zilla Panchayat does something about it. It also has a very dull look when you drive from Vamanjur to Pilikula.

Giving names to this park : who decides ? How can you give a poet's name to a biological park and who did not belong to Mangalore City ?

I PITY THE DECISION OF HIGH COURT OF KARNATAKA THAT IT DECIDES OVERNIGHT. THERE WERE LOTS OF DEVELOPMENTS WHICH ARE STILL PENDING IN KARNATAKA WITH REGARD TO EVERY BASIC AMENITIES. BUT, COURT HAS NO EYES TO LOOK INTO ALL THIS THAN TO KEEP A POET'S NAME TO THIS BIOLOGICAL PARK. THIS IS A MISNAUMAR. DR.SALIM ALI'S NAME WAS MORE SUITING TO THIS PARK THAN SHIVARAM KARANTH. WE HAVE SEEN THIS POET CONTROVERSIAL AND COMMUNAL IN THE HISTORY. WHILE, I ALSO PITY THE HORRIBLE ENTRANCE OF PILIKULA AS MR. ANDRADE HAS RIGHTLY SAID. DO WE HAVE SOME SENSE PLEASE BEFORE WE COULD FIX UP OVERNIGHT...!!!

VERY WELL DECISION,dinesh poojary kindly read this

One of the best book written by him
"Mookajiya kanasugalu" (dreams of a silent grany).
if anybody go through this book defiinately the conclusion, there is no alternative poet replaced after shivaram karanth in our state.
where this fast hindi and english films and where those days we are so much anxious to understand each word of his poem.can not compare at all.

Also "Ten faces of Crazy mind"

go through it.i kept mookajiya kanasugalu still with me.
because i know the worth of that book, could have been taken such a decision in karnataka long back.

    Dear Shaik,Mangalore,

Shivaram Karanth was not just a poet but mainly a novelist,a critic, mystery writer, dancer (expert in Yakshagana),creator of first Kannada Science Encyclopedia and Childern's Encyclopedia, painter and most importantly a nature lover. His novels like Marali Mannige and Bettada Jeeva are a testimony to this. He loved animals. He passed this passion to his son Dr.Ullas Karanth (a real Dr. and not an honorary one) is a world wide expert and authority on animal preservation - especially tigers.

Maneka Gandhi or anyone else in India can come close to him on his love for nature and animals.

It is indeed a good thing that the pilikula administration renamed the park after Dr. Shivaram Karanth. However, the ceremony itself would have been just a formality for them, looking at the dry grass in front of the entrance. It could have been done better by laying new green grass or perhaps a beautiful garden and also planting good tree saplings all along the way to the park. Now it looks like entering a desert.
I am sure there is a lot to be done if the authorities take the initiative.

People are enthusiastic/keen to rename/change of old names but people never bother the development of any projects/roads etc etc. One of the reader's opinions to rename Mangalore Airport to RANI ABBAKKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. If we are going to rename/change of Mangalore Airport we should go for Late Ullal Shrinivas Mallya. The Mangalore Airport established on 25 December 1951 and Late Shrinivas Mallya was the founder of Mangalore Airport due to close relationship with to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Why we should rename other than Ullal Shrinivas Mallya. JAI HO MANGALORE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT & JAI HO LATE ULLAL SHRINIVAS MALLY.
