Mangalore, Nov 15: Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on Thursday November 15 jointly organized a protest rally against cow slaughter and submitted a memorandum to chief minister through deputy commissioner demanding that cow slaughter be banned, and illicit slaughter houses closed down.

They warned that if the government failed to do so, then the protest would be intensified.

Mangalore

Udupi

Dinesh Pai Kateel in his keynote address said the government had passed the law against cow slaughter in 1964, but it was a weak law. "Police have failed to prevent illegal transportation of cattle and when they are questioned about this they tell that they do not have sufficient staff to prevent such illegal activities. If they do not have staff let them give legal permission to our activists... we know how to stop it. This struggle is like a freedom fight, we will not rest until we get justice," he said.

Bajrang Dal division convener Sharan Pumpwell said, "We have been fighting against cow slaughter for the past 15 years. We have pleaded with the government and with officials to ban the cow slaughter but to no avail. We even met Muslim leaders urging them not to hurt our religious sentiments."

"A prominent Congress leader defends beef eaters and says beef is a nutritious food but now I challenge him - if cow is nutritious why do you not eat pork which is also nutritious? Three weeks ago a pro-Muslim organization held a convention at Nehru Maidan where their religious leader said ‘If Modi becomes Prime minister then Muslims will become terrorists’. If  Muslims become terrorists then all Hindus will pelt stones to dispel them," he lashed out, adding, "We Hindus are not cowards - remember 1998 Suratkal and 2006 Mangalore riots."

Ravish Tantri, vice-president of Aikya Vedi Kerala as main speaker lambasted PFI and said their main agenda was to 'target Hindu sisters for sexual gratification' and 'rule with terrorism'. "Present day we call ourselves as Hindus because of RSS and Sangha Parivar. If you attack Hindus we are ready to show what we are. We will fight for Dharma according to what Krishna said in the Bhagavadgeeta," he said.

Rajesh Nayak in his presidential address said, "I was born in an agricultural family, and work as a farmer. Organic farming is the best way of cultivation. After independence we used chemical fertilizers and we are fed with poison. One cattle gives one load of manure to field but finally goes to the slaughter house. I pity this situation."

Sri Rajashekar Swamjji of Sri Vajradehi Math lauded those who fight to save cattle going into hands of butchers and said, "Today we drink pasteurized milk which is not good for health, instead of direct cow's milk. Hindu society is ready to face any obstacles."

M B Puranik president of VHP said, "Cow should be cared for and treated as a mother because it nurture us. Even Mahathma Gandhijji dreamt about Ramrajya and was against cow slaughter."

Krishnamurthy, Manohar Tulja Ram, Jagadish Shenava, Gopal Kuthar, Jithendra Kottary, Bujanga Kulal, Pradeep Pumpwell and others were present on the occasion.

BD acts like, Cow slaughtering is the only remaining issue in their society. Ridicules.. BD is blind for poor, homeless, jobless peoples and to struggling parents who trying to arrange marriage for their girl. If BD is a social community, What they did noticeably to the society? What is their achievements in the past years? How our youths can be fool this kind? Hindus are not only in Indian but in all over the world, they eat beef. Why they are not reacting? why? American, European cow's are not among "Gov Maate"??
Beef is the most highest exporting stuff among the Non-veg in western and gulf countries. No problems here.
If BD really have emotions about this, They need to show their courage by trying to ban at least in 1 country except India.
BD cant even imagine it - Leave about banning.

Great ignorance of the topic and mere propaganda is the outcome of this rally. Raw milk without boiling (pastaurization) is harmful, yet some people claim its good ? Mangalore is not BD/JD/VHP privater property. We are in a free country and some people cannot force their views on the society. Police have better things to do than keeping a watch over cows ? I demand that the 'Beef market' must be free and open like in other parts of the country.

beef is very tasty. specially beaf sukka, beef roast, beef chilly, beef pepper. Beef soup is source of energy and beef is good in healing cuts and wounds. So let us use it in medicinal point of view. If someone doesn't like to eat, let them not eat. But let others eat. It's very simple. If beef is not to be eaten, then what about milk?

Are the Bajrang Dalis milkmen ? They seem fit for that job only. They can also collect cow dung and make dry chappatis for kitchen fire. The cow urine can be collected and used as a pesticide wash on coffee plants against borer insects.

Besides this they want to be protectors of the Indian Constitution when their hands are already full with cattle work.

Lets be fair to all. Totally ban cow slaughter in all over India, even for export. BD should be given the right to raid any slaughter house all over India to monitor cow slaughter. All this should not be only secluded only for Karnataka. Until then let them know we are one country and cannot have separate laws at the whims of a few fanatics. If so then let Jains too have a voice and let their sentiments also not be hurt.
Then to make the meat eaters happy ensure that Mutton is sold at the price of beef, subsidized from the BD funds. Or import beef and sell at local prices.
If this is not possible then ban sale of meat completely No chicken, No fish, no Pork, no mutton even no grasshoppers.
Can I also know what Milk Dairy companies do with their old cows.

Consider above verse. In the beginning God made all things for the benefit of man. I hope you have not read the new testament. Kindly read carefully with contexts and with clear meanings.

Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Jesus had the annihilating power and the clear truth is whichever a man likes he can eat. All the animals and even reptiles are legal for humans which go inside of the stomach and passes on.

    A I Dias,
while I agree with your concern against cruelty to cattle, I must also let you know the world over people are more against cruelty to all animals including cattle than what I have seen in my country India, which in my opinion treats the cattle the most cruel way, but there has been no voice against the slaughter of cattle in any of the four continents that I have been so far!!

Assuming you are a "Christian" you must educate yourself about what God has clearly spoken about the dominion He has granted us over the birds, fishes, animals of the earth, including cattle as the source of our food one is permitted and not permitted to eat in the Old Testament, and also the view of Lord Jesus Christ in the New Testament.

I pity the cattle that are sent to the so called "GO SHALAS", "Go Ashramas" or what have you, for the cruelty and lack of care provided in these 'Shelters' for lack of ignorance of the caretakers and corruption prevailing in such places.

In India, we have impractical laws for protection of cattle, trees in the forest, wild life and so on, but you know the end result of it all.

India can permit all these things freely, yet increase the number of wild life, trees, cattle if there is a sustainable programme to conserve these resources for future use.

An Island nation like Mauritius sells meat of crocodiles, wild animals so freely(legally) cause they have a planned programme that will never deplete these rare resources, while people can benefit eating or selling the products arising out of these animals.

    (c) why are you blind to the cruelty given to the cows and buffaloes all over the country, while you pass your silly comments on DW.

I would also like to know how many old and sick cows that loiter and eat from the poisonous garbage bins have you rescued in Coastal areas?

How many countries have you visited so far to compare with India and educate yourself about the cruelty given to these animals that you claim to be the "Savior" of???

I am a farmer by profession, i left farming and prefer working any other trade job
Every one is talking about Organic Farming, natural things etc etc. In mangalore plenty of agricultural lands are kept barren because no one wants to work on farm. The people who conduct rally and speakers really dont know the farmer problems. A person who dont know farming can give so many lectures and we farmers know that at the end of the day we dont get anyting. you can see most people on rally, but on farms you cant even get few people to work.. this is reality. To work on Mangalore Farms we have to bring labours from other places... Farmers cant follow organic farming today due to following reasons. 1 Expensive and shortage of natural fertilizer. 2. Less fertility in the soil. 3. Low yield 4. Increased Insects and diseases. Again a farmer is farming for Money and he need more yield, so scientifc method surely we have to follow.

Govt has to provide certified legal ,hygenic slaughter houses for all areas to avoid such problems. Again why only Mangalore asking for ban? why not all over india?

If a Hindu country like Nepal is allowing the cow slaughter in the name of sacrifice, why cant in India people use it as there food.Every one has his own right to food, person who dont want let dont eat,These bajrangis & sanghis" should now first that India is not a hindu country.First of all these let us tell that how many of you have cow in your homes & how many of you dont eat.

I agree that we need to take care of the cows and they are sacred for us Hindus.
Well giving right tO BD:.May be Krishnamurthy, Manohar Tulja Ram, Jagadish Shenava, Gopal Kuthar, Jithendra Kottary, Bujanga Kulal, Pradeep Pumpwell can first start abolishing caste system and make sure their children marry with other castes. That will set the tone for real Hinduism and will deter the Congress from making use of religion and caste.
How about Roti Kapda Makan for aam aadmi first.
    Useless blood sucking BD,BJP,CONGRESS etc.

Legal rights to you guys? Are you guys kidding? What is the police force for if you want to perform their job? Make them to do their duties religiously prior to asking such silly questions of seeking rights to stop cow slaughter. Announce a plan to own sick, aged cows and pay the owners money from your funds it will stop automatically. Now even Hindus sell their non-performing cows to slaughter houses!

Very soon you will be asking to have your own police stations and jails too. Think about it - we live in a democratic country not a Taliban country to have your own rules as you wish. Good luck on acquiring rights from law personnel.

This is the third protest in last two weeks on Cow slaughter, Ayodhya etc. The frequency will increase as the election approaching closer. These strategies they used earlier, and to some extent they succeeded in dividing the public but not anymore as the majority of the people understood their motive.

These fanatics want to take law into their hands. They want to control cow slaughter/transport because they are jobless. Tomorrow they will demand to replace the lawyers and judges and take the law into their own hands. This is rediculous in a democratic country. Let them stop dreaming and step into reality. They are really really stupid to think and even dream of such a thing. I pity them for their stupidity!

That is why other religions are surviving. Please keep up the dignity of Hindutuva and of INDIA. Good luck for your mission. Gandhi practiced NONVIOLENCE.

I urge the government to scrap permit based houses for cow slaughters so that the meat prices may decrease sharply in the market. Now the meat prices are so high/became costly and very hard for a common man’s livelihood.

Presently slaughtering of other animals there are no permits required except cows. Hence kindly and immediately abolish permit based slaughter of animals.

I sincerely urge the government to think of seriously to abolish permit based cow slaughter houses so that any tom, ram and muddy can slaughter any kind of animals for their livelihood.

Dear Bajrangdal and VHP, it is for your benefit, in the free flow of cow meat you shall receive good meat at competitive prices and no need to hide and seek beef consumption thereafter.

BD is an association of young but lazy men who are living on govt funds by using the so called movement 'stop cow slaughter'. Torturing is worse than killing. During the rally we can see a lot of animals being made to stand for hours together. Is this right?

India is a secular state and our Constitution does not forbid any particular food. Cow is sacred only for Hindus (I respect them) but I think they should not make a religious sentiment of theirs applicable to all the population. Besides, when they speak about cow slaughter they speak about "illegal" slaughter houses. That does not prevent that there be LEGAL slaughter houses. People over the whole world eat beef, so why not in India too?

How can we ban cow slaughter?.The supreme court provides rights to every Indian citizen to have the meat of his choice. In the case of beef, anybody can apeal to the SC for a permission to slaughter a cow after certifying it by Vet doctor as a healthy and fit to consume.

If cow slaughter is need to be banned, then there is also a need to ban the slaughter of Pig, rabbit, lamb (Mutton), chicken etc. Why these Bajrangi's or VHP's interested to stop only Cow Slaughter. This is wrath on Minorities and this is communal. Should not appreciate these type of Protests and Forums which work for their selfish gain.

Almost every statement of BD above is a offence under the Indian penal code.I wonder why not the police do not book them soon after such statements. The only agenda here is not the ban on beef but to unite the devided hindu's.They forget that the devided hindu's never listen to BD statements because they are well educated. The educated category always understand what to ban and what not to. The ban of beef statement itself is non-democratic.

"Let Police Give us Legal Right to Stop Cow Slaughter".... wow wat a demand from Moral Police... The Police are not such a fools or illiterate to serve Bajrang Dal demand. If that, happens let Police give legal right in the hands of public for every issue in the society. There need to be a formation of Anti-Bajrang Dal and Anti-VHP squad very soon to mend and tame the behavious of these type of Forums.
