Kuwait, Nov 17: United Mangaloreans Kuwait UMK’s dream of helping the underprivileged turned into reality once again for the fourth time, after proceeds of an event held last month, amounting to over Rs 16 lac were handed over to ‘Little Sisters of the Poor – Home for the Aged’, located at Bajjodi, Nanthoor, Mangalore.

‘Fun-Filled Evening 2012’, a successful show staged to generate funds for a charitable cause, was presented before a packed audience at the American International School, Maidan Hawally here on October 19.

The event comprised melodious songs, foot-tapping dances and the hilarious Konkani drama ‘Ootre Uzvadlem’. The proceeds of the event, Rs 16,08,108, was handed over to the noble cause.

Recently, UMK’s  team of Lloyd Pinto, Ronson Saldanha, Philomena Saldanha, Beverly D’Souza, and Fr Vincent Victor Menezes (parish priest of Cassia) visited ‘Little Sisters of the Poor - Home for the Aged’ and handed over the amount in the form of a cheque to Sr Josphine and her team at Little Sisters of the Poor.

Sr Josphine thanked UMK and its generous supporters.

UMK has contributed around Rs 28 lac to three needy organizations in India in the past three years, raised during three successful ‘Fun Filled Evening’ shows, in 2009, 2010 & 2011.

On behalf of UMK family, leader Agnel Saldanha expressed gratitude to all the generous sponsors, donors, well-wishers, and the audience, who whole-heartedly supported and encouraged UMK for the noble cause.
