Kasargod, Nov 18: Sometimes, potholes too may have their benefits. While we say potholes on our roads take the life out of us, there are times when they even 'give life'!

We have heard of women giving birth in ambulances or vehicles on the way to hospital, but in rather a bizarre incident here on Saturday November 17, a woman gave birth in an auto rickshaw when it fell into a pothole!

The incident took place on Mulleri-Kumble road in Sitangoli.

As per the information received, a woman from Bela was on her way to hospital as she had labour pain in the morning. The rickshaw she was travelling in fell into and got stuck in a pothole. As a result of the jerk, she gave birth to a baby boy in the auto.

Soon after her delivery, she was rushed to a nearby district government hospital. The mother and baby are said to healthy.

    Go drive a'rickshaw'-son ! Grow up before advising Uncles and Aunties at the outset ! What's life without humour? Have you read the Caption properly? Is anyone injured? Isn't the baby safe? What are you cribbing about?
    Looks like the 'newborn'is more grown up than you! You want everyone to be 'smug faced' because of this delivery ? If fate wills that anyone of our kins is destined to deliver this way -so be it! We only pray that 'All Be Well' at the end!Now don't take anything to heart-read carefully what I have written once again....God bless...

    People commenting and laughing about kid being born in Rickshaw and commenting on weird names for kid don't have respect to human dignity-although everything can be taken lightly..if one of you were parent, would you like someone come to you and comment that your son be named ricky or auto, or potter ? Grow up Bhandarkar mam and Jaimini Aunty and other uncles!

    Mr. Ooman Chandy visited the KINFRA Industrial Area at Seethangoli to inagaurate HAL Factory, last week. Only roads in front of KINFRA where repaired with patches. Others roads around Seethangoli are worse with many potholes & patches. Both Ruling Govt. UDF & Opposition LDF have failed in this matter. The state of this road normally during end of rainy season will be pathatic, but unfortunatly this thing has happend this year. All Panchyats of Puthige-Kumbdaje-Badiadka-Mulleria should take interest to repair such roads.

    If rickshawallas play the role of doctors, soon most of the gynocologists will be out of business.

    Anyway it is good to know that the mother and the child are fine. may God bless them both. Will the child be named POTRICK - as the pothole and riockshaw have played their roles.

    I remember the previous incident about facing difficulties of getting birth certificate who born in ambulance.....
    O God you help this family to get the birth certificate to the new born........

    In a similar case a pregnant woman in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra delivered a baby boy in June 2012 when the auto rickshaw she was traveling got stuck in a pothole. Luckily even here both mother and the baby boy were safe and then rushed to the nearby government hospital.

    Besides naming aptly, Indian roads are now famous for this quick, inexpensive 'ricky" delivery.

    Good idea for us to export such accidental mysteries & welcome foreign customers for this AUTOmatic delivery system!
