Puttur: Double Murder - Identities of Women Yet to be Ascertained

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (VM)

Update

Puttur, Nov 20: Police have confirmed that the two women whose bodies were found near a railway track Monday November 19, under a bridge near Polya-Keduvadka road, were indeed murdered.

The identities of the women are yet to be ascertained. Police said that the murder would have taken place at around midnight on November 18.

As per the information received, the two were battered to death with a stone. Police said that the murder might have taken place due to family rivalry. They were taken to Deralakatte hospital for medical examination.

The missing complaints at Sakleshpur, Kasargod, Manjeshwar, Bantwal were checked with the duo but in vain.

Sources said that the bodies will be kept in the hospital for seven more days. For identification of the bodies, the jaws and thigh bones of the duo have been preserved. These will be sent to various research centers if needed, said ASP MN Anuchethan.

The photos of the deceased have been sent to all police stations in the state. Police claimed involvement of a local person in the murder.

SP Abhishek Goyal said that strict action will be taken in the case and three teams have been formed and sent to Madikeri, Hassan and Chikmagalur for investigation.

The investigation is being led by Suresh Kumar, circle inspector of Puttur rural under the guidance of Puttur ASP MN Anuchethan.

People of Dakshina Kannada Live in Fear

In the wake of murders, rapes, theft cases which are increasing at an alarming rate in places like Bantwal, Beltangady, Puttur and Sullia, people of Dakshina Kannada are living in a shadow of fear. Law and justice is also depleting from the past six months.

For the past 45 days in Puttur taluk, three murders of couples have taken place. Kodimbale murder case has been solved, whereas double murder case at Dharmasthala is yet to reach a conclusion.

The district is in dire need of police commissioners like Kasuri Rangan, Kempayya and others during whose tenure people were scared about law, say the locals.

Parents are scared about their daughters' safety, people live in constant fear that thieves may enter their homes when they are out, and murders seem to have become the order of the day. Poor rate of conviction has further encouraged criminal activity in the region.

Railway department should implement CCTV on each compartment of train and should hire 2 – 3 armed security guards on each train. This measure would increase in safety and security. Now a day’s crime is increasing in specially train.

Law and Order situation in D.K. is very bad and especially the police force is ineffective. The home minister must intervene and appoint a task force to solve the mysteries and quickly arrest the culprits. It shows the BJP government in karnataka and D.K. in particular has miserably failed and looks like police are just spectators without any clues to perform. The government will be held responsible if the police forece is inactive. Let them bring a strict police commisioner to solve the entire murder episodes which has taken place recently.
