Mangalore, Nov 22:
The third JMFC court has asked clarification with the registrar of the High Court in connection with the release of TV journalist Naveen Soorinje from custody. Soorinje was arrested recently in the Padil home stay attack case,

The high court had earlier ordered a stay on the FIR lodged against Soorinje, and a copy of the order was sent through fax on November 20.

As it was not an attested copy, judge Renukadevi Raikar has asked for clarification over the release of Naveen Soorinje.

Hence, only after the confirmation from the registrar of high court, the decision on the journalist’s release or judicial custody will be made, she added.

Sources said that the advocate representing Naveen Soorinje had sent an appeal to high court stating that Naveen did his duty as a journalist. It was the police who misused the law and filed a case on him, he alleged. Now, before the decision on the matter could come, the high court has ordered stay on the FIR against Naveen Soorinje.
