Mangalore: Robbers Loot Iron Rods Worth Rs 6.5 lac at Gunpoint

Mangalore, Nov 23: A lorry plying from Bhatkal to Virajpet laden with iron rods was looted by a group of four people at gun point at Kannur here on November 20.
The robbers are said to have looted 14 tons of iron rods worth Rs 6.5 lac by threatening the driver and the cleaner of the lorry at gunpoint.
In this regard, driver Manjunath from Hassan and cleaner Mahesh from Mandya filed a complaint at Mangalore rural police station.
As per their complaint, on November 20, at around midnight at NH 75, a group of 4 people in a white car waylaid the lorry near Kannur. They allegedly pointed their gun at the driver and the cleaner, made them wear monkey caps and also looted their valuables.
The driver and the cleaner were then taken away in an Alto car, while one of the robbers drove away the lorry.
As per the information received, the duo was left near Uppinangady on November 21, while the lorry was found a little distance away. The robbers had looted all the iron roads and then parked the lorry.
The accused are said to have spoken in Tulu, Kannada and Hindi languages as per the complaint.
