The event was held on Friday November 23 at the Regency Hall in Doha.

The evening will remain in the memories of all Karnataka people residing in Qatar for a long time to come, thanks to the outstanding performance by music maestro Gurukiran and his troupe. It was by far one of the best musical shows performed in Qatar.

A large crowd of music lovers and fans from all over Doha flocked to the venue much ahead of time resulting in a huge rush at the gates even before they opened.

The event began with an opening remark from cultural secretary Akshatha Hegde. Platinum sponsors of the event Chidanand Naik, general manager of Pallonji Qatar Ravi Shetty, managing director of ATS Jyothi Shetty,Vice President Prakash Ajila  and general secretary Navnith Shetty marked the opening of the event by lightning the lamp.

Visiting MC VJ Anushree then took over the programme, charming the audience with her beautiful voice and sense of humour. Anushree Sampath is a popular DJ for all leading Kannada TV channels and has done shows like ‘Comedy Khiladigalu’ for Zee Kannada.  From the very beginning she built up the tempo and connected with the audience with her unique and attractive style.

The programme started with the rocking Kannada number ‘Huduga Huduga’ by talented singer Chaitra, followed by ‘Nadedaduwa Kamanabilu’ by Chetan and ‘Bole Re Papiha’ by Anuradha Bhat. They stole the hearts of the music lovers with their lovely Kannada and Hindi numbers. Foot-tapping dance items by the Oxygen team electrified the atmosphere further.

Kannada's well-known, dynamic music director and singer, four-time Filmfare and state award winner Gurukiran then made a grand entry to the stage, flanked by dancers who were also flown in from India. Guru rocked the stage with his dual performance and the audience demanded an encore.

Guru, a Mangalorean, is not only a music composer but also a Sandalwood actor and a good singer who has established his name in the Kannada filmdom. Guru kept the audience engaged with his numbers ‘Barivolu’, ‘Um Ma’, Ee Jaga Sarialla’, ‘Mokeda Singari’, ‘Roop Tera Mastana’, ‘Nanagu Ninagu’ and ‘Kudla’.

As promised by Gurukiran during Tulu Koota Qatar felicitation function earlier, he and his troup performed rendered a historic evening at Qatar. He not only kept his promise, but even gave his fans much more than expected, creating magic with his songs and dancing skills. The audience thoroughly enjoyed every second of the memorable event, and even requested for another show. Truly, Gurukiran made every Kannadiga feel proud.

Mimicry artist Dayanand had the audience in splits of laughter with his superb comedy and mimicry. Laughter riot reverberated in the auditorium as he took digs on married couples, police and Kannada movie stars one after the other with his inimitable talent.

The programme continued with music and singing by playback singers and Guru inviting aspirant dancers, children from the audience who jumped on the stage and were dancing along with the singers and dancers.

Another highlight of the show was ‘Jugalbandi’ between drummer Devanand and guitarist Stephen, which went on for almost half an hour totally mesmerizing the audience.

The 19-member troupe was honored and presented with a memento from Bunts Qatar President Ravi Shetty and also the platinum sponsors were honored on the occasion.

It was a pure entertainment, entertainment and entertainment. The mix of songs, dance and fusion made the event worth every penny. Gurukiran is truly a "Rock Star" of Kannada Cinema.

I personally felt, they should have been given some more time to present few melodious songs from oldies.

Congratulations to Bunts Qatar Team lead by dymanic President Ravi Shetty for their maiden successful event.
