Kuwait: Twin Plays Regale Audience at Two-day Tulu Parba

Kuwait, Oct 24: 'Tulu Parba 2012' mega event of Tulu Koota Kuwait was held at the Liberation Theatre, Khaifan on Thursday November 22 and Friday November 23 with two Tulu dramas regaling the audience who gathering in large numbers.

Super hit Tulu dramas “Ill Badk” and “Aye Subage?” by Ranga Taranga Kalavider-Kaup led by Samaj Ratna Leeladhar Shetty were the main attractions of the even. Veteran Tulu film actor, playwright, film maker and theatre personality K N Tailor was the guest of honour.

The first day’s programme started with a formal welcome by compere of the evening Suresh Salian and Jaya Karkala followed by prayer dance by Vedavalli Prassad, Dishita Samudrala, Meenakshi suresh. President Ramesh Kidiyoor, vice-president Tharendra Shettigar, chief guest KN Tailor, Sponsors Elias Sanctis, Raghavendra Shetty and executive committee members symbolically inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Chief guest KN Tailor along with president Ramesh Kidiyoor opened the 'Pingari' from a special stand to make it more traditional. The souvenir was released by K N Tailor along with others on the dais. Vice-president Tharendra Shettigar welcomed the gathering and listed the achievements of Tulu Koota Kuwait.
 
Visiting artiste Dharma Kumar entertained the audience with Kannada song and Hindi instrumental (flute). With the introduction of ‘Taranga Kalavider- Kaup’ the drama of the day ‘Ill Badk’ started at 8 pm. The story revolved around three families where in the protagonist gets into the habit of betting and ruins his life. The drama was full of comedy while the climax succeeded in touching the hearts of audience with its emotional appeal. The drama was written by Viraj Nandikoor and directed by Prasanna Shetty Bailoor. Joint secretary Jayalalaxmi V Karkal proposed the vote of thanks.
 
The second day’s programme started with a welcome dance presented by Sujatha Rajendrene and team. President Ramesh Kidiyoor delivered the welcome speech after the lighting of lamp.

A spectacular presentation of “Tulunada Vaibhava” was enacted by local talents, directed by Lakshmeesh Amin was well appreciated by audience. It was a presentation of rich Mangalorean culture and celebrations which included portrayal of Hindu-Muslim-Christian religions, poets of Tulu Nadu, Kambala, Agoli Manjanna, Parashurama, Bootha Kola, Kori Katta, Pili Vesha, Daivaradane, Christmas, Diwali, Yakshagana, folk dance, God and Goddess of different religion etc. Dance by winner of TKK Group dance competition "Skittles" choreographed by Cheryl Furtado entertained the audience. The ‘Saree’ dance by visiting artiste Merwyn Shirva for a Kannada song in which he changed 7 sarees was truly amazing and a lesson to ladies who take hours to wrap a saree. It was the 48th show of the dance.
 
During the felicitation programme guest of honour the Ambassador of India to Kuwait Satish C Mehta appreciated TKK for its contribution towards the Indian culture. The sponsors were honored with flower bouquet and momento by chief guest KN Tailor. The members of Tulu Koota Harish Bhandari, Mabel Rosario and Muralidhar Bhandari were felicitated with Palapushpa, shawl and memento by president Ramesh Kidiyoor and K N Tailor for their hard work and contribution towards the association.

Community leader Archie Menezes was also felicitated in same manner for his outstanding exceptional support towards TKK during the inception years and thereafter. K N Tailor and Leeladhar Shetty were also honoured during the function. All the felicitated persons spoke a few words thanking TKK. Mangalorean priest Fr Noel Almeida spoke during the occasion and asked everyone to support the noble cause of TKK
 
Daijiworld and other media persons were honored with flower bouquets by President Ramesh Kidiyoor. Father Noel Almeida along with scholarship sponsors distributed the merit scholarships to the winners. The winners of biggest weight losers were also honored with memento. Mementos were presented to drama artists.
 
Before the main attraction of the day Dharma Kumar entertained the audience with Kannada songs. The 165th show of super hit drama “Aye Subage” directed by Basuma Codagu and written by Sham Kumar Chitrapura was the attraction of the day. The drama was about a family in which the elder son of family is a dwarf and sacrifices his life for the family. It was a melodrama with full of comedy, action, romance and emotions which was thoroughly enjoyed by audience. The actors were Leeladhar Shetty, Sujith Shetty, Prasanna Shetty, Sandeep Shetty, Viraj Nandicoor, Rajesh Ketheshwar, Rajesh Alape, Harish Kapu, Madukar Ameen, Marvin Shirva, Prakesh Kotian, Vivek Madoor, Raguraj, Shamith, Roopashree Verkady, Geeta and punja. The music for both drama was provided by Sharath Uchilla.

General secretary Satyanarayan Salian proposed the vote of thanks. The program was co-ordinated by Rekha Sachu, Suresh Salian, Vijay Kairangala, Naser and well comperered by Suresh Salian, Purandara Manchi, Jaya Karkala, Cynthia D'Souza, Yadunath Alva and Sushma Bangera. Sound, Music and Lighting were provided by Iluminations (Anand D’Souza). Make up was provided by Ajay Ghosh. Back Drop by AK Raveendra, Adrian Pais and Slides by Ramesh Bhandari and Team. Two different stages for both the dramas were set by Ronald D’Souza Mulki and team who is also a talented drama director who directed and presented UMK dramas in Kuwait. After the Diwali festival it was a double dhamaka for the Tulu drama lovers in Kuwait.

    Congrdutulation to Mr.President,Committee memebers of Tulukoota Kuwait for the successful 2 days programme. We enjoyed both Tulku Dramas - funfilled evening. Friday cultutural programme well managed specially in the begining showing Tulu Nadu culture belongs to all religion. Keep it up. URBAN-JANET-SHIRVA-KUWAIT

    Both the plays were throughly enjoyed by the entire crowd. Amazing sense of humour which gave a witty touchto tulu dramas. congratulations Tulu Koota Kuwait for presenting wonderful and a grand Tulu Parbha Programe.
