Mangalore: Scholar S Venkataram Felicitated at Sangeetotsava

"This time in the university syndicate meeting I will put forth the subject and project of building theater to support art. Music has a power that takes a man into eternal bliss and it is the art of civilized community. Earlier Jagadish Chandra Bose used music in his experiments to show that plants have life”, said professor T C Shivashankar Murthy vice chancellor of Mangalore University presiding at the Sangeethosava -2012 valedictory function.

The programme was jointly organized by the Bharathiya Vidhyabhavan Mangalore, Sangeetha Parishad Mangalore and Mangalore University at Ravindra Kala Bhavan on Sunday.

C R Ballal in his key note address said, “this institution has incurred a hard journey of 19 years, earlier we used to think that because of corporate sector the music will lose important but it is a wrong notion as most people who supported with financial assistance are from corporate sectors”  

Jayaram Bhat, managing director of Karnataka bank said, "we earn from the society and we should also spend a few hours from what we obtained for right cause".

John D’ Souza said that, "music is the food for the heart and soul (athma), Athma is like the kernel within a coconut shell".

Captain Tiwari, secretary of NMPT, Balakrishna DGM of Central Bank of India, Narashima of LIC, Krishna Murthy of Indian Overseas Bank were present as chief guests in the occasion.

On this occasion veteran music scholar Gana Kesari, Sangeetha Vidwan Shri Kudhumar S Venkataram and his wife was felicitated in the field of music.

S Venkataram after receiving the felicitation expressed his gratitude to the organization for its wonderful work in the field of music.

On this occasion many talented students in the field of music were awarded.
