Dubai, Nov 26: Members of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum and Daiji Rang Mandir felicitated Wilson Olivera along with his wife Sharmila Olivera, at a ceremony held at Karama, Dubai on November 24 at 8 pm. Wilson Olivera, who is on a concert tour to Dubai, rendered a scintillating singing performance in front of a jam-packed audience at Dubai's Sheikh Rashid Auditorium on November 23.

Hailing from Padukone, Wilson Olivera has released six Konkani albums and takes credit for composing over eight hundred songs. Wilson and his better half Sharmila were welcomed with bouquets. A typical memento of Daiji Dubai and a gift were also presented.

Stany Neerude and Rony Byndoor were also present on the dais.

Speaking on this occasion, Wilson Olivera said that he does not consider his efforts in creating Konkani music and literature as a 'contribution' but simply his efforts to showcase his talents. Wilson Olivera praised and thanked the Konkani music lovers of the UAE for making the November 23 event a successful, sold-out one.

Earlier, Nanu Marol read out a brief introduction of Wilson Olivera and his family, praising the popular singer from Padukone as 'one who has all potential to take Konkani music to great heights'.

A brief interactive session was held later. Wilson Olivera, who has taken inspiration from the late Wilfy Rebimbus and follows his style, said that it was his father who was instrumental in persuading him to be inclined towards literature and music.

Rony Byndoor proposed the vote of thanks. Dinesh Correa compered.
