Kundapur, Nov 29: Manjunath, the boy who had attempted suicide along with his female companion in a bus from Nelamangala, passed away at Wenlock hospital in Mangalore on Thursday November 29.

Manjunath, who had his second PU student in Chikkaballapur PU College, has been working at a medical store in Chikkaballapur. He and Manasa, a first year PU student of the same college, who were neighbours had fallen in love with each other but feared that their parents would never consent to their marriage. With an intention to die together, the two got married at a temple before taking the extreme step in the bus.

The duo then consumed an overdose of tablets during the overnight bus journey from Nelamangala to Kundapur.

While Manasa was  found dead on the arrival of the bus at Kundapur, Manjunath had been rushed to hospital in a critical condition. He was later shifted to Wenlock hospital in Mangalore.

After battling for life for over a day, Manjunath passed away on Thursday. It was said that he had married Manasa before the couple ended their lives.

Manasa's body was sent back to her hometown while Manjunath's parents came down to Mangalore to receive his mortal remains.

A case has been registered by Chikkaballapur police.

Indian food more unhealthy than Western. What they say is Indian cook vegetables 'half kg veg cooked with one lit oil/Ghee'. The ghee which indians r using is very unhealthy. look at the amount of spices indian eat which is not at all good. western food is mostly baked (no oil)and mild. Western people are living longer than Asians!!

@ Vinod , mangalore. I agree with your comments . Even married girls are vulnerable outside. But being married early will keep her away from unwarranted situations. As a father , he will be happy to see her teen daughter safely married to a decent boy than having chain of relationships with unknown guy. As , a bachelor ,if he catches early bird than a girl who has more 'exp' in life , it will save him from future complications.

We cannot control life style changes..Everything takes its own course.. Example people who ate "urpelda ganji" may not want that now.. They prefer "pizza" instead.. Its the change and no can help it. Though we all know "prevention is better than cure" it never happens easily..
Well regarding "teen love" and marriages, if you think of it today a girl matures much earlier.. So is'nt that the nature's way that they want to get married earlier.. Atleast the nature says they are ready! Even the child marriages must have started to keep the girl safe within known people.. Today at the rate the rapes and crimes are happening, even I feel that early marriage is much better.. Thats still with the hope that they will be spared from the cruel barbaric world of crime today.

Proper student counselling has to be done in every schools so that such incidents doesn't recurs.films & serials showing teenage lovers in school uniforms are to be equally blamed here as this influences young minds.

Mr. Nagesh Nayak, all the points highlighted by you existed much much before you were born, during the British rule, Indian rule lead by Indian or Italian Congi, or Bjp rule lead by ...., ..., ....,and this will continue in future too.
Regarding the last point, India will remain beautiful as ever. All depends on the eyes or the mirror you look into. Be a true Indian and you will find the beauty of India.

@ paddu , mangalore. 15 year old is no way child in todays conditions. So u can say 'teen love' . In india child marriage is not banned just retsricted ( read PCMA ) , and completly legal for some communities. According to one survey , almost half indian girls married before 18....../ @ nagesh nayak , thanks for sherlok investigation , u can blame on media but i feel western influence is uncalled for. Western standards are much better , Eg : Age of marriage in mexico starts from 12 even in malaysia and brunei no age limit ( shariat custom ).

RIP. Its the high time peaple become liberal , rather retsricting or pacifieng young lovers. More than legal things , they were scared of society ( parents ) . As govt got conservative with consent issues , will only lead to more harrasement for couple from their parents. So where is juvenile rights?!. As duo already married in temple , will PCMA apply on their souls?. Time for interspection !.
