Sanjiv Bhatt's Wife to Contest Against Modi in Guj Assembly Polls

Ahmedabad, Nov 30 (PTI): Shweta Bhatt, the wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, today announced that she will contest the state Assembly elections on a Congress ticket against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi from Maninagar constituency in the city.

"Yes, I will be fighting against Modi from Maninagar on a Congress ticket," Shweta Bhatt said.

"We have moved far away from democracy in Gujarat and to restore it, everyone has to do whatever they can. Fighting election against Modi is the logical step in our quest for democracy and to curb anti-democratic forces," she said.

Shweta said she will be filing her nomination papers shortly.

Sanjiv Bhatt, in an affidavit in the Supreme Court last year, had alleged complicity on the part of Modi in the 2002 riots. He also deposed against Modi before the Nanavati Commission, probing the riots.

Bhatt, who was the Principal, SRP Training School, was later suspended by the state government.

    Modi is the biggest liar. He indulges in gutter politics not even street politics with personal attacks on his political opponents. And he has been projected by RSS as next Prime Minister. There are people of his cult to appreciate his filthy utterances. Simple question- ‘why there is no Lokayukta in Gujjarat for the last 11 years?’ Why there are no answers to over 15,000 RTI queries? The burning of train compartment at Ghodra itself is a conspiracy. The so called progress is nothing but propaganda. Water from much hyped Sardar Sarovar Project has not yet reached the Kutch-Saurashtra region even after 10 years !

    Modi contesting assembly polls? He is consensus candidate of NDA for the post of Prime Minister. He should contest Lok sabha elections and not state assembly election.

    Why does BJP make hue and cry about the opponent of Modi. Is he apprehensive of defeat. Let him defeat her instead of calling Bhatt is Congress agent or Congress is exposed. Why does he have jitters......

    Saira Rasheed,Mangalore/USA,main problem with you is that you are blind for Godhra riot wherein many Hindu karsevaks were brutally murdered by fanatic/anti national muslims.So riot broke up resulting in retaliation killing many muslims which is a natural phinomina.You never appriciate that after Modi became CM in 2002 there was no riot in the state.You are educated uneducated.

    What a cheap move once again by the congress, Mr. Modi must be laughing and now must have stop campaigning there so he can concentrate on other areas, it will be a cake walk , last time some dancer had contested against Mr. Advani, these just want to gain some cheap publicity and as their deposit is a piece of cake, for which they will for sure lose, with the way Gujarath has developed, it will be a national shame if Mr. Modi and his men lose, Gujarath has a highly intelegent population, so the mistake wont happen for sure, I am not a fan of Mr. Modi, but for sure salute him for his development and his vision for his state, hats off to him
