Udupi, Dec1: Bishop of Udupi diocese Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo unveiled the ‘Motiyam’ Magazine published by Catholic Stree Sanghatan Udupi Diocese on Friday November 30 at Mother of Sorrows Church Grounds, here.
Bishop said Catholic Stree Sanghatan was formed in the diocese before Udupi Diocese came into existence and hence the complete credit goes to all the members of the Sanghatan for their hard work.
“Catholic Stree Sanghatan units are present in almost every Church in Udupi diocese and most of the units are active and doing good work for their betterment. Organization should start awareness about education in the society which is much required these days. Women should be independent and should stand on their own feet in the society rather than depending on others”, he said.
He called upon the members to reach out to the needy people in the organization and set up programs for their uplift in the society.
“Mootiya Magazine will help to communicate with others. Through this they can publish their activities. It can be the most effective to spread the message to others”, said Bishop.
Fr Fread Mascarenhas, director of the Udupi denary said that women in the society play an important role. “We have great potential in the diocese. If we manage all these things well then one day we all will be successful in life along with Udupi diocese. May many such useful activities be carried by Stree Sanghatan in the future”, he said.
Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo, director of Udupi Denary Stree Sanghatan Fr Fread, diocese council president Leena Roche, editor of the magazine Motiyam Ledwin Pinto were present on the dais.
Fr Ronald Kutinho, former zilla panchyat president Galdys D’Almeida were present on the occasion.
Leena Roche welcomed the gathering. Ledwin Pinto delivered the vote of thanks and Mabel Menezes compered the programme.
After the formal stage function, various culture programs were performed by the members of the diocese. A drama written by Benna Rosai ‘Thamaso’ was staged by the members of the Stree Sanghatan.
Voilet Castileno - Pamboor, Zilla - Santhekatte, Feamina Aranha – Shankerpura, Irene Pereira – Udyavar, Veronica Saldhana – Udupi, Mabel Menezes – Pamboor, Vivita D’souza – Brahmavar, Master Nihal, Babe – Carmila and Master Astral took part in the drama. Alphonse D’Souza Brahmavar directed the drama; music by Gladson Ravindra, dance choreography was done by Vivita D’Souza.
Thousands of people witnessed the wonderful drama.
