First of all I congratulate managing committee of “Sahebaan UAE’ conducting the function. I had been to the function from Qatar upon special invitation.
Urdu speaking SAHEBAAN community in the undivided districts of DK and udupi are descendents of administrative officers who had been deputed from moghul emperors from northern India and Hyder ali and tipu sulthan from Mysore region of southern part . Historically Sahebaans are well educated and have been serving in Government services. However from few recent decades minority of them are lagging behind the education due to poverty or other reasons. Sahebaan community’s urdu language limited to their home. But the very unfortunate part of the community is their children do not learn literal Urdu language due to the fact that from the schools where their children study do not teach Urdu language. The sahebaan children who study in gulf countries also do not learn urdu because parents believe that in the unfortunate event of loosing job back home children would not have urdu as second language in their schools but this is an exemption for me, I am being a sahebaan, I dared to teach all my three children Urdu as a second language in Qatar.
If the sahebaan really wants to teach their children Urdu language back in their home town government is forced to appoint urdu teachers provided children are more than ten in any class. Also I suggest ‘saebaan Gulf’ parents to teach urdu as second language as parents chances of parents loosing thier job is only 0 - 10%. I wish all success ‘SAHEBAAN UAE’ for their future programs and task they planned to take.
